Hello Advocates! Thanks @barneyrubble for todays thread. Nice to be here and thank goodness for beer! Was sippin' a brew the other night with a buddy and I used the phrase "...back in the good old days." He stopped, looked squarely at me and said "Man, these are the good old days." I have to agree. Fat Head's Wet Hopped Head Hunter IPA right outa the can. Cheers!

A pic of the medical school at the University of Montpellier. The oldest medical school in Europe - started in the 1100's. If only our universities looked like this!

Working until 12 on Fridays drastically improving quality of life, as does beer. Couple original beers at the home team. Fresh: citra and Columbus, and a brown ale they almost never make any more. Cheers!

I spent three weeks in Australia in 1999.My mission was to search for wine brands and to meet current suppliers and tour their vineyards and facilities. I spent most of my time in South Australia and West Australia, but also The Hunter Valley in New South Wales and visited the beautiful city of Victoria. I loved The Clare Valley in way north South Australia and the wine region south of Perth in West Australia. At a park at the far southwest corner of Australia, up very high, one can look west towards Africa, north towards India, and south towards Antarctica. Nothing but vast blue ocean. This is the territory of continents- including Australia- and it is truly magnificent! If I had been 15 years younger I might have never left... It was a great journey.

Most vacations tend to do that to everyone's wallet.

Enjoy the rest of your time there. Cheers.

Leaving Montpellier early tomorrow morning and going to Nice for 5 nights. So, gotta drink some beers in the fridge! First, the Porte du Peyrou in Montpellier, an Arc de Triomphe completed in 1693. Incredible.

Now drinking some heavy stuff. Robot Oil, a quadruple stout from Brasserie Des Garrigues. Comes in at 12.5% ABV and it's outstanding. Rich imperial stout with tons of roasted malts. Wow.

@Shanex - have you tried this one?

    The Alchemist - Rapture

After completing my 2 missions to A) Have a beer from every US state, and B) To have a beer from every brewery in my must-try list (which included the likes of Cloudwater, Verdant, La Cumbre,, Monkish, Casey, etc), my next self-assigned mission has been to tick certain beers that I've wanted for some time. One of these major "wants" has been Rupture from The Alchemist. Not an easy beer to get hold of, as it's only released on the third Thursday of each month and only sold in Stowe (or so I was told). Thanks to @thebeers 's infinite generosity, I finally got to try it.

The flavor profile is a lot closer to what one expects from a NEIPA (minus the bitterness, which thankfully is there) and it deviates considerably from the two flagships of Heady and Focal. The look is a lot hazier than the flagships and the aroma is made up of a nice mix of tropical and dank notes. Very inviting. While a lot of Alchemist IPA/DIPAs have a "signature" flavor, this one does not follow this trend and it displays an early sweetness with a bit of the nail polish remover that one associates with many NEIPAs these days.

A slow sipper for me. Glad I got to try it!
