Ok hazy IPA, no complaints.

 

I was hoping dinner tonight would be oysters or clams. Sadly, no. But maybe tomorrow.

Reading this wonderful novel, just released last week. Brenner by Hermann Burger. He was a Swiss writer, and this was published in 1989, this is the first time being published in English. What a weird stream of conscious novel. About Hermann Arbogast Brenner, an obvious self insert character as he is the "scion of the famed cigar dynasty, Brenner & Sons." He loves cigars and Proust, thats basically it, with maybe some wine ha.

"I caught a whiff, long before the advent of visceral recognition, of something, a gust of flame or breath of god that binds the universe...as a dilettante writer I rely on such expedients-that Rauch, smoke, from the Middle High German rouch, rouh, in Old High German, rook in Dutch, is derived from the verb riechen, to smell, in its older sense of to steam or smoke, which does not appear until the seventeenth century as a transitive with the meaning of smoking something..."

Ohm, yeah, thats just a fragment of one sentence that goes on for about two pages ha. I need a Schlenkerla to go along with this, before I finish. Smoke just rolls off the pages.

I'll make do with an equally wonderful Traquair House Ale tonight. Which has a smoke character all its own (even if this isn't smoked)...always love the malt character on this one.



Possibly switching over to some Scotch later as well

 

#2, the peanut butter is holding up well, nearly 9 months after canning, but I like the OG better. Still, this variant is worthy of your consideration. Rev flocking rocks.

It's definitely worth a visit if you like WCIPA's. Might just become my go to beer if I can't get any more of my beloved Hippie Chick - been a month now and nada. I asked one of my other stores to get some and he said he'd order some. Cheers!
