    Swap Meets from Monkish. I haven't really fooled w/ these guys in a minute. No need, tbh. They do make some really solid beers, however. I'm not at all trying to diminish their works. I just feel like I've been spoiled by other options. Thankful, as always. Cheers!

    Weird weather day - overcast, and looking like rain for most of the day - finally decided to just go for it and put coat # 2 of marine varnish on all the wood work on this lovely beauty......hopefully 2-3 more coats before the weekend.....that old mahogany is looking sublime

    I always admired Monkish more than I liked them. Not to diminish Henry's contributions to the L.A. beer scene, I just never lost my mind the way others did when I was living there.

    Drekker Goon Platoon DNEIPA (though labeled DIPA), 8% ABV. Pours hazy gold, with a 3-finger off-white head that left lots of lacing. Nose is citrus, taste follows, slightly sweet, equally bitter. Excellent mouthfeel, juicy, slightly dry. Overall Excellent.

    It's like anything. The hype train is rolling, and you have access or you don't. So you trade for it... then you like it. Maybe you like it a lot. Over time, you know how much you really like it. They don't have a thing on Root + Branch. I promise you that. I want to fill a tub w/ their beers and drink my way out w/ a straw. Not that I want anyone to find me like Jim Morrison the next morning. I'm also not in the 27 club. Much love, brother.

    Jai Alai, our contractor told the wife he's 90% sure the granite counter tops will be installed tomorrow, so we may have a kitchen sink and water in the not too far off future. You don't realize how much you count on that thing until it's gone for 6 weeks.....

    Abysmal Thoughts from Root + Branch. What do I even need to say at this point? Tremendous. May they never lose the brewing team they currently have in place, but we all know that in the craft beer world, good things don't always last. I'll take what I can get for now. I love you. Cheers!

    ...Rocket did make a cross-country journey with us to Ohio just a few years ago...perhaps there is some sort of karmic connection hidden in all of this...somewhere I have a picture of him at Malabar Farm walking up the lane towards the Pugh Cabin's where the opening scene of 'The Shawshank Redemption' was filmed...
