Big storms are rolling in, I'll always take that in the middle of summer, as long as it not a hurricane ha.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo in the glass, Coltrane, Crescent spinning. Always a good time to spin Coltrane, and always found his playing particularly interesting with a big storm  :sunglasses:

More Manhattan Project Oktoberfest. It'll be a wonder if what's left of these on shelves make it to September. A flat out great American version of a marzen. Kicking back with Thursday on the 11th anniversary of its release, funnily enough, on a Thursday.

Patina Pale Ale from Austin Street Brewing. Very nice beer. A good sub-5.5% beer with a nice hop punch and the malt to hold it together is hard to find. This one checks the boxes.

[IMG] Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Toppling Goliath Dorothy’s New World Lager (5.5%):
A steam beer from Iowa with flavors of grains, bread, and a fruity yeasty presence.
    versus
    2) New Glarus Spotted Cow (4.8%): A Farmhouse ale from Wisconsin with flavors of pale malts, bread, lightly fruity yeast, and a creamy, smooth finish. (mismatched blind)

    3) Phase 3 DDH Far From The Tree (7.7 % canned 5/27/22): A NEIPA from Chicago with flavors of orange, pineapple, tangerine, and apricot. Leans slightly sweet.
    versus
    4) Equilibrium dHop42 (8.5% canned 5/25/22): A NEIPA from NY with flavors of sweet tangerine and mango cream. Juicy, heavy, sweet. (correctly matched blind)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Toppling Goliath Dorothy's New World Lager:
This one has a nice yeasty note which I hadn't appreciated before. I'm not exactly sure how it's a steam beer, because it surely drinks different than an Anchor Steam. Anyways, it's pretty good to revisit.

    4) Equillibrium dHop42:
Honestly, don't know how to call a winner here. Between the DDH and sweetness, they were palate wrecking in a good way. Difficult to compare side-by-side when their both palate numbing. All of the beers were great tonight. That EQ mango cream is unmistakable though.

Dream: Mosaic, a NEIPA from Belgian brewery Brasserie Surréaliste (6.5%).

It certainly does show off Mosaic's broad flavor profile nicely though, with tropical, citrus and berry notes, as well as herbal and floral accents, but those notes could still be a little more vibrant and well-defined.

Well, after the first few lightning and thunder crashes, there has barley been any rain, or anything else that could be considered a storm. Not nearly as bad as all the weather reports made it out to be.

So, I'm calling on the power of John Coltrane, doing a Coltrane rain dance I guess you could say, to get MORE rain, cause we need it ha.

H-Town Pils in the glass. Spinning Sun Ship.

A real nice Thursday around here today. Sadly I've been handcuffed to my computer all day with jobs. Always making time for beer breaks though.

Lupulin Vanilla Dreams Imperial Stout, 10% ABV. Last of the pack, with six months inadvertent aging. Same as it was fresh, incredible nose, excellent taste.
