Next stop on this years tour of Marzens is the Eiszäpfle Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus. My first time trying this one.

From a bottle marked BEST BEFORE 10/11/22 4053105.

This lager pours into my pint glass a clear golden straw shade with a tight white bubbly head. Streams of bubbles ascend. Head drops to a ring presently leaving no lace.

Scent is honey, bread and bread dough. A hint of apples. Crisp herbal hop note.

Taste is light crisp and refreshing with honey, sweet bread dough, apple and a clean crisp German hop bitterness. Lighter in flavor than most marzens with a delicate sweetness. Though more sweet than dry it is subtle and very refreshing. There's a hint of lemon as well.

Mouth is crisp and clean with a fine carbonation and a dry finish. Light in body.

This is an eminently drinkable lager with a fine delicate sweetness and a crisp finish. Among the lightest and most refreshing examples of the style I have encountered. A maßkrug of this would go down quite easily and never become too heavy. Could become a favorite.

Any version of cancel culture is debris. To quote Mike Tyson:

Happy Thursday. Long day work. Finished a frame investigation study. 2nd third of The Fifth Season read. It's really good albeit slow going. Me and Julia are having a pre 23 month weekend started. She got all her computer supplies for her job starting in a week. Been able to support everything with no issues on job market. This is the life I was meant to live after 2019 :sunglasses: going to Durham this weekend for hike and breweries.

We are at Rio grande on the north side. Pernicious is my go to ipa of NC for life. Also the corn queso and Carne asada fries were insane.

Second Fiddle and a little Quattro Kush, very good buzz. Buds might be small but their packed really dense and really sticky and smell amazing.

Nice, looks really verdant! We haven't had much rain here since June. I"d be surprised if we've had 2 inches and that was only recently, and we only had 1.45 inches here. We really need some good, long term soaking rain. Cheers!
