Debating on White Labs, Hillman or Cellarest. Probably hit Hillman.

Onto round 2 and found a 2021 Expedition Stout in the beer fridge which i thought exhausted a few months ago. Hopefully we'll get distro in WNC and Upstate SC by early November.
Still tasting mighty fine, love the roastiness and viscosity of this beer and why it has been an annual six pack for the last ten years, such a great Old School impy stout!
    Cheers!

Hofbrau Munich Dunkel Lager, always great.

Got to spin Miles today. Passed away on Sept 28th, 1991.

Someday My Prince Will Come. If there ever was an "underrated" Miles album, this is it. Original Six Eye Mono pressing.

Been to both Hillman locations and they are solid, especially if looking at having food. White Labs Kimchi fries are awesome! Have not been to Cellarest but there was a nice write up in the local media within the last few months.
If you are looking for good lagers try Zilllacoah on the French Broad river or Burning Blush in Mills River which i enjoyed a nice Dunkel this past spring.
    Cheers!

Wonderful! Thanks for the tips. I've read great things about Cellarest. Wood aged & fermented beers.

Tonight’s Blind Hefeweizen and Phase 3 Tasting:

    1) Ayinger Bräuweisse (5.1%):
A German Hefeweizen with flavors of banana bread, bread spice, light juicyfruit, and a sweet clove finish.
    versus
    2) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier (5.4%): A German Hefeweizen with flavors of juicyfruit yeast, bread spice, aspirin, and a full, yeasty body.
    versus
    3) Hacker Pschorr Hefe Weiss (5.5%): A German Hefeweizen with flavors of banana bread malt, nuttiness, earthy spice and drinks sweet. (Mismatched #1 and #2 blind)

    4) Phase 3 DDH Protocol (8.0% canned 6/8/22): A NEIPA from Chicago with DDH Citra, El Dorado, and Galaxy for flavors of dank tropical melon and blueberries. Relatively clean.
    versus
    5) Phase 3 DDH Low Ceiling (7.8% no canning date): A NEIPA from Chicago with DDH of Citra and Mosaic for strong flavors of citrus, lychee, tropical pineapple and blueberry. A soft, sweet oat malt body. (Correctly matched these two blind)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier:
This one wins for a slightly lighter and dryer body but still packing the banana bread with a more fruity and spiced flavor. So well-balanced and relatively dry for a Hefeweizen. Extremely drinkable. World-Class German beer.

    5) Phase 3 DDH Low Ceiling:
All-around Fantastic Haze. Tons of juicy citrus mixed with the intensely tropical fruit. I usually don't like sweet IPAs, but this one has a huge hop profile that necessities a large, soft malt body. Intense in all aspects, yet balanced. Extremely difficult to do. Phase 3 brings out some quality haze with this one.

Hey BA's, all is still good here. About a 15-20 mph breeze with light rain. The gusts are getting a little stronger but not like in swfl. The best part is it's about 72 degrees and feels great! Miller time!

This Union Jack is really tasting stellar right now. It's rare to see a fresh pack in these parts. I imagine that will change when I'm in Cali. Looking forward to it. Cheers!

Casey Brewing & Blending -- Back In The Day

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Clear, dark gold body; dense carbonation presence; somewhat thin yet lasting head, white and spongy. Nice malt and hop aroma; sweet and bready; earthy, rustic hop aroma, herbal, a bit dank. The taste follows along with the nose; pine resin and a bit of toffee; moderately heavy hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; sticky; hearty residual sugar presence.

An interesting, malt-forward India pale ale with a strong, earthy hop presence.

Switchback Ale, pretty decent red ale, paired well with my Mediterranean squid salad that I wasn’t allowed to photograph.

Off and on light rain all day…getting kinda breezy…otherwise nothing to report from Florida’s SE coast. Sad photos out of Naples and Ft. Myers this afternoon which apparently took the brunt of Ian’s landfall. Cheers to the folks riding out the storm in SWFL!
