Enjoying an English Barleywine from Olde Hickory. Very nicely done with notes of figs and plums with enough hopping to balance yet leave a touch of residual sweetness.

Gotta go relatively light today, no beers after 7 pm since I have to have lab work done tomorrow morning at 8:30. Having a Tank 7 at the moment.

This here King Sue is tasting downright delightful after today's logging effort.




Neighbor and I cut up 6 big ash trees that were standing dead due to the ash bore beetle and were taken down about a month ago. His neighbor is letting us harvest the wood rather than pay to have it removed. Should yield about 8 cord of primo firewood perfection total. Got it all cut and about half piled up next to the splitter. Gonna be a serious chore getting it to my firepit area after splitting as it's located 2 properties down and I'll need to traverse about 400 feet through the woods slightly uphill. That'll whip my butt into shape in a jiffy. Good cross-training!

Afternoon BA's, we got the power back on after a 12 hour outage, nothing compared to SWFL. The cable modem (Cox) is still down but we're thankful to have everything else be good. Fancy Papers will do the trick . .

 

I sure do have a soft spot for this favorite of styles, but I typically feel pretty critical.

It's no complaint that I can't much muster complaints about this year's crop of Märzens and Festbiers from nearly every source I've tried.

Damn!!! It’s as slow at the virtual bar as it is at the actual bar I’m sitting at, enjoying a recently trending King Al that quite a few of you have hyped:


Oh, and a sidecar of Dark Apparition from Jackie O’s.

Awesome nose on King Al that combines some dank notes with oat nuttiness and some tropical notes. A little more citrus, along with their pith, in the taste. Pretty good, but I’d still rather a west coast IPA.

 

#Bikes at Browns

 

The VB has been really slow as of late, and there seems to be a lot of folks who used to post but no longer do so. Not sure what the reason is?

 

Got to work early, even for me, worked through lunch...than means I got to leave early

Late lunch at Better Luck Tomorrow. Out on their fantastic patio, its still just a bit hot for me (upper 80's, I'm from Illinois, will never get use to a "cold front" meaning it is just upper 80's ha) but hey no humidity and it feels great. Lone Pint Yellow Rose and a ridiculously awesome steak sandwich. Blue cheese, pickled onion, arugula.


Also, one of the better cocktail places around, and what do you know its also half off everything until 5...This is the Amethyst Hour. Gin, Vermouth, basil, grapes. Yeah, this is a great patio cocktail ha.


If I don't take a nap, tunes and beers coming up
