Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Revolution Oktoberfest (5.7%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Chicago with flavors of pale bread malt, earthy honey, lightly floral and a balanced body.
    versus
    2) Millstream Oktoberfest (5.9%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Iowa with flavors of earthy baked bread malt, glazed honey, and a light caramel finish. Tons of flavor and mildly sweet.
    versus
    3) 3 Sheeps Oktoberfest (5.5%): An Oktoberfest Märzen from Wisconsin for flavors of baked bread, bread spice, pepper, and a dark, sweet body.
    (mismatched #2 and #3 blind)

    4) Junkyard Royale with Cheese (8.0% canned 7/22): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra & Mosaic for flavors of citrus, citrus rind, pineapple, and some dank tropical notes. Balanced.
    versus
    5) Drekker 2 Right Eyes (8.3% canned 9/20/22): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra & Mosaic for flavors of apricot, pineapple, kiwi, melon, and tons of ripe berry flavors. Drinks sweet. (both correctly matched blind)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Millstream Oktoberfest:
All 3 of these are so great in their own regard. Revolution is the most drinkable with pale malt smoothness. 3 Sheeps has a peppery bread spice flavor and amber malt that is delicious. First time at Millstream. It has a smooth honey-glazed and baked bread flavor. Probably one of the most aromatic and flavorful Oktoberfest Marzens I've tried. Highly rated on BeerAdvocate for a reason.

    5) Drekker 2 Right Eyes:
Pretty darn good. So much variety in what Citra and Mosaic can do. This one has a ton of ripe blueberry with a slight complexity from apricot and kiwi. Dank, sweet, and "Ripe" would be a good way to describe this one.

...good to see Millstream in your lineup (and a winner to boot!)...I've always enjoyed their beers and will be swinging by the Amana Colonies specifically to visit the brewery) on my eastern journey back to Ohio via WI and the MI UP (with possible stops in WV and AR - my last two states to rate/review beers - although I have had beer in WV before, just pre-BA days for me) in late October...I'm sure the Oktoberfest will be long gone by then...I see they also have a barrel-aged Oktoberfest...did you try that...???

that DFH went down quick cuz it's my fav

Twin Elephant Squints. This is a local brewery whose best style i've always thought is Saison.

This one...not so much. not sure if being a 'summer saison' changes what it's supposed to be, who knows. oh well, it's not terrible

Actually starting my Friday follies at a decent hour this week. This beer right here is worth seeking out, one of the best D-IPA's I've had from Dewey so far.

And speaking of "dipas". This one is for all you fellow college basketball fans:

I really love this beer and when I see it sitting on a hand truck next to the entrance with the invoice still on it I'm gonna jump right on that.

    Mrs. Z vetoed pool day…she was anxious to come home…so we packed up everything and I drove the dogs home in the RV…after 4 1/2 hours of taking the backroads, I’m drinking a Freak of Nature DIPA;

Mrs. Z stayed behind to shop…she says she’s driving home tonight. I’ll get started on un-hurricane proofing the house and yard, both unscathed by Ian. Cheers from St. Petersburg FL!

Great way to start a rainy, cool weekend. Coffee, dark chocolate, smooth bourbon on the way as it warms. This is great. Cheers!

Things escalated quickly over here. 4 Hands Thank You Imperial Stout. It was aged in a blend of bourbon, rum, and cherry and peach brandy barrels. It was sealed in wax, but thankfully they had a pull tab that it easy to remove the wax around the top for easy opening. This one is a bit complicated and I think it’s improving as it warms.

Had some clams over at my parents. Now back at the spot drinking what is sure to become the house beer in the next week or two. Closing in on this move, and it's starting to feel very real. Don't sit on Pliny, Hunter. Sit on eggs. I love you. I love you, too. Peace...
