    Have the day off today. Mowed the lawn, did a few chores and got all the prep work done to make some chicken fajitas for dinner, all that's left to do is the actual cooking. Right now I'm having a 12 oz Hippie Chick to compare with the 16 oz cans - it seems a bit maltier to me and though the hops are there, they don't linger like the 16 oz cans - at least that's my perception. I went down and scoffed the remaining 4 packs of 16 oz cans (3).

    Bottled on 01.26.22.

    Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch mocha head over a black body with sticky lacing.

    Nose of hazelnuts, chocolate, slight coffee, and slight bourbon, in that order. I've always liked hazelnuts.

    Taste mirrors nose closely with a bit of hop bitterness and slight bourbon coming through on the finish. A tad sweeter than I would love, but still damn tasty. The bourbon finish builds with each sip as well.

    Very nice, nearly full, mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

    Overall, it's been awhile since I've had a KBS or variant and this certainly lives up to it's predecessors' reputations. Even with the added sweetness of the hazelnuts, this is one tasty beverage.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

    Fine golden amber body; vibrantly coarse carbonation; thick frothy head, semi-sculpted. Nice tropical fruit smell; mango and pineapple. Interesting taste; very bitter; phenolic; a light malt undercurrent with a very light touch of citrus and tropical fruit. Medium body; soft and smooth; nice overall juiciness offset with a bold dryness, especially at the finish.

    An interesting if somewhat overly bitter India pale ale.

    ...and kudos to @eppCOS in his alter-ego persona as Steve Berlin playing baritone saxophone for Los Lobos...

    Back with another beer that is or is inspired by a German style:

    The GF has joined me and finished the last Weihenstephaner’s Festbier, so I grabbed Vibrissa's German-inspired Pilsner Klar, which is at least subtle leaning a little light on the bread, but has the grassy to lightly herbal hops down. I’m enjoying it pretty well as it is, regardless.
