Got my walk in, cleaned the house, beer run complete. Happy to see Half Acres Orin on the shelf, new blue label and a 25% smaller can. Every other guy on the planet is putting his beer in 16oz cans, Half Acre moves them to smaller cans, Bummer, with a capital B.....I'm drinking the "blue can".....

    "Shrinkflation" sucks! :-1:

Humble Forager did the same thing, to their Imperial Pastry Stouts/Porters line up.

Felt lazy, watching a movie in bed and drinking with a Chouffe tulip Houblon Chouffe the Belgian IPA. Weird? Aren’t all artists weirdos anyway?

Howdy folks! Time to enjoy one of my "Diet" beers from Summit. I see they have a new NA beer on the shelves now. Also picked these Superfriends this morning. The one on the right is rather large. Ooooooo. Scary ghost peppers...Cheers!

Hey all, enjoying a wonderful historical beer from Zebulon Artisan Ales, a greater Asheville brewer. This one is an IPA sent to India from England in 1840. Crazily hopped and was naturally inoculated by Brett, this is a wonderfully funky-citrusy-resiny IPA that had 160 IBU's before shipping. Certain large retailers in today's world wishes brewers hopped IPA's this much LOL!
    Cheers!

Good Word Brewing makes one of the best Hefeweizen I've had from Georgia - Isabella. So I decided to do a side by side with Weihenstephaner to seen how it compares. GW checks in at 4.9% ABV vs Weihenstephaner's 5.4%. For what it's worth, Beer & Brewing Magazine just gave Isabella a 93 rating in its most recent issue.

Appearance: GW is a straw yellow, forms a nice frothy head with good retention but still short of Weihenstephaner in visual appeal.

Aroma: Weihenstephaner has a distinct yeasty aroma that is more banana-like with notes of clove mixed in. The GW leans more clove and less banana-like.

Taste: Follows aroma closely. GW exhibits more herbal & spicy notes. Both sport a the expected wheat/grainy flavor. Very little bitterness from either.

Mouthfeel: GW has a little lighter mouthfeel, but far from thin. The Weihenstephaner is nice and pillowy. Both are equally drying. GW has more carbonation on the tongue start to finish.

Winner: GW has about as close to an imported version as I have found around here but Weihenstephaner still comes out slightly ahead. It has just enough yeasty character, visual appeal and balance to all elements that puts it a nose above. GW did a great job with this Hefe though. I'll go back for more. Many of you have seen me write this before, but if you are ever in the Atlanta area, I highly recommend a stop a Good Word Brewing in Duluth. It's out from most of the breweries "inside the perimeter" but probably the best brewery in Georgia.
