    Thank you, it’s been getting slightly better since I started with a proper teacher, mutual artist friends advices and YouTube tutorials as well.

    [​IMG] Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Revolution Oktoberfest (5.7%): An Oktoberfest Marzen from Chicago with flavors of baked bread, biscuit, smooth honey with light floral notes. Balanced and relatively dry.
    versus
    2) Lupulin Oktoberfest (5.7%): An Oktoberfest Marzen from Minnesota with flavors of rich bread malt, bread spice, brown sugar and toasted malts. Sweet, malty, toasted, and flavorful.
    versus
    3) Falling Knife Sommersend (6.0%): An Oktoberfest Marzen from Minnesota with flavors of rich bread malt, brown bread, smooth caramel. Leans slightly sweet.
    (mismatched #2 and #3 blind)

    4) Falling Knife Raging Demon (8.5% canned 7/11/22): A NEIPA collab from Minnesota with Citra Incognito, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin CGX and Strata hop for flavors of orange citrus and pineapple rind. Astringent and relatively dry finish.
    versus
    5) Phase 3 DDH Double Pixel Density 8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA with DDH Citra cryo for flavors of orange citrus, cantaloupe and honeydew melon.
    (Correctly matched these two blind)

    Winners:

    2) Lupulin Oktoberfest    : Hard to call a winner as these are all fantastic Marzens. Lupulin stands out and admittedly beats Revolution, one of my all-time favorite Marzens. Revolution is more balanced, but the rich bready and malty flavors pop from Lupulin. Right now I'd say this one ranks #2 for the year behind 3 Sheeps, so will have to see how it compares soon.

    5) Phase 3 DDH Double Pixel Density:     Falling Knife didn't win any here, but still good. Phase 3 hits with tons of Citra hops giving a citrus plus a juicy and tropical pineapple and honeydew melon flavors. Juicy, tropical, sweet, and doesn't hold back. One of the best within recent memory. I wouldn't argue with a World-Class rating on this one.

    Pretty solid Dunkel from New Realm. I'm done with appts, do I'm going to cook dinner, drink beer, and watch baseball. Wife is off to DC tomorrow morning to give a presentation at a public health conference. I'll be watching football.

    It shows - it's a slow process and will pay off in the end. I can see the difference so keep it up, you'll get where you want to be - you obviously have a talent for it and enjoy it, that's half the battle. Cheers!

    look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

    Murky, dark brown body; virtually no head other than a wispy circumference circling the inside of the glass and thin, patchy areas on the top. Rich dark malt nose; a nearly cocoa and coffee blend; a subtle hint of brown sugar. Great dark malt taste; cocoa; moderately heavy boozy presence; caramel obscura; raisin and date. Heavy body; silky and oily; velvety residual sugar feel; semi-dry.

    A nice doppelbock collaboration yet I did not get the fantastic vibes from the beer that others had. The taste and mouthfeel certainly stand out, but the looks and aroma not so much. Liked it, didn't love it.

    ...had some possible frost the past several days, the ghost pepper plant (and the Serrano pepper plant) are still going...this weekend, though, I'll have to pick the final fruits from both...love having them both...great peppers, but the Sriracha, Italian sweet, and green pepper plants are gone...

    @ATL6245 Not quite the intensity of a @defunksta tasting which are always impressive but this is very nice indeed! My local in Hendersonville has been getting some Good Word in lately but i totally spaced looking for it when in earlier this week, ugh!

    Moving onto round 2 and onto Bell's Double Two Hearted. Canned on 7/20/22 with a shelf life of 3 months i am coming in right at the deadline. However according to my MS Access Beer Inventory, i still have 1 more lurking in the beer fridge and there is no way to attempt a second one tonight as i would like to watch my Cardinals on Thursday Night Football.

    @beergoot Sorry to hear you were disappointed as Burial, one of my local favorites, is usually very good with light lagers, IPA's, and stouts. Have not seen a bock beer from them in my short experience so maybe this is part of the issue? Having said that i have not seen this brew locally, although we do get some Jackie O's distribution. Curious to try but not sure this would would be a good beer investment given my guess that this is $1/ounce pricing.

    Yep. Already had 2 nights in a row at 25F so nothin woulda had a chance. I feel lucky to have the space for indoor growing for a few weeks. Still lots of ghosts comin'. It's kind of shocking. Took these pics 2 minutes ago...Check out BIG BOY.
