'Tis the season for holiday beers. Went looking to this years version of Deschutes Jubelale. None out there but did find one bottle of last years. What the heck, it's bottle conditioned. Let's give it a shot. Pours a nice head and holds. Plenty of carbonation. Malty & herbal. Definitely one of the more hoppier winter beers I've had. It has a tea-like flavor. Slightly warming. Not bad. Very different.

    Hey David,
Been searching for this as well in my neck of the woods and cannot find it! When living in PHX it was an automatic 12-pack purchase of Jubelale and Celebration every year. Happy hunting!
    Cheers!

This rarely happens but when it does it confounds me. This New Realm Dunkel is great on tap at the brewery. The first can I had out of this six a couple weeks ago was fine. This one has the strangest note of aroma and flavor that was not there before and definitely not in the draft version. Odd.

It's weird, Tom. We've gotten a lot different Deschutes beers in Atlanta in the last 12 to 18 months, but Jubelale does not seem to have made it this year. Cheers!

Well, that last one ended up being a drain pour. Bummer. Had to go with something certainly reliable. Hofbrau Dunkel it is! Prost!

Fine golden amber body with a touch of chill haze; sparse carbonation; huge head, densely creamy texture, rocky, very long lasting, sticky. Nice aroma; mostly malty but some hints of hop spiciness; pine resin and dank weed. Decent flavor; moderate malt base, biscuit-like; nice combination of old juicy sweetness, tropical fruitiness, and pine resin; fairly heavy hop bitterness. Heavy body; raspy on the palate; semi-dry overall.

I imagine a fresh version of this beer would have been awesome. As it is, this one is around eight months old and, I believe, the hop character is waning as far as aroma goes. Oh, the hop bitterness is fairly intense, but the beer certainly seems more of an earthy malt sweetness and hop bitterness bomb than, perhaps, a more nuanced vehicle to feature the Strata hop characteristics. Sure, some are there, but there is a kind of 'oldness' to the taste and smell of this beer. It's still fine, but just not at its prime.

We had our weekly Beer Zoom today since some folks are out tomorrow. All I had was a single Hippie Chick. Having this one now which is a little over the hill but still tasting good. Been lingering in the fridge for a while.

    Hey Gang !!
Haven’t drank since last football season, so gave the wife, liver and bank a break ❤️
Started imbibing again just around pre season with a Coors Celebration
I’ve slowly been stepping it up throughout the football season as my Eagles continue their path .
Pretty much one great brew everyday and my share of bourbon neatly

One of my shops has gotten sone great brews since my departure -
I’m going to try and get everything searched and reviewed -

this beer pictured I’ve been drinking a lot while it’s available - it’s a local and a fantastic double IPA

CAPE MAY BREWING WHITE CAPs DOUBLE IIPA

I just realized that I forgot how to post pictures after so many years here- Wow -lol

Been trying something new almost every time I go to the store -
Tired Hands now available and these amazing Icarus brews -
I’ll try to fill in more as I go -

hope you all are doing well ☝️❤️
