G'day, all! I'd been trying to hunt down this Polotmavý, a Czech amber lager from Lion Bridge Brewing, Cedar Rapids, IA. I finally found it earlier today. Distro here is sampler-pack only, which kind of sucks. Since the brewery is located in the Czech Village area of CR, I had high hopes. I was not disappointed. Dark bready malt and grassy and peppery hops on the nose and palate, giving way to pleasant bitterness and a crisp and slightly peppery finish. This represents style tick number 118, leaving only Grodziskie and Czech Pale Lager to go. (Not that anyone is keeping track...)

 

Picked up a mixed 12 pack with Bad Weather's Ominous infused three ways. This coffee infused version is incorrectly listed as "retired" on this site. Very good brown ale with plenty of coffee and roasted malt.

Yo peeps... good to be here, a little late admittedly, and hope you're all staying well.
Wife had a bad case of food poisoning over the last 48 hours so was trying to play NurseGnome to her.

IN any case, Guinness ZERO as you might have suspected from me at this hour, after a good 6.5 trail run this morning that just felt... great. First time in a long time that I wasn't worried about anything in particular. Also signed up (again) for the late June 2023 Leadville 100 run camp, to partake in more pain-shenanigans with fellow lunatics. Should be fun.

I'll tune in again soon with a real thang.

Having a Stone IPA ..



Had to replace the battery in my laptop today, it was not holding a charge at all and as you can see, was a bit swollen. Working great now and fully charged at 100%

 

What did you think of it? People either love or hate the spruce. I am always intrigued by it. I wonder how it paired with the bourbon.

 

Ah good memories seeing that Cafe Deth again, cheers to you and @GuyFawkes for that great outing to the Rev Taproom in late October.

Saint Boniface - Charter '77

 

I like it. I could see how some would think it tastes like a Christmas tree but I tend to like the spruce tip aroma/taste in beers. It's not pairing bad the spruce is kinda clashing if I had a rye whiskey it'd pair better imo. The sweetness and pine clashes a lil bit with the Russells. Still nice tho. I need to have a good rye on hand. I appreciate that can btw. Cheers!

 

The Suarez porter is 1 you'd want with the particular bourbon I'm sipping on atm. I slipped up on that 1 but hey no way for me to know.

After looking through some of the most recent reviews, I can't help but notice how many people mention tasting chocolate in this beer.

There's absolutely NO CHOCOLATE in this beer. This is just a plain Imperial Stout, without anything added!
