    1) Unibroue Maudite (8.0%): A Belgian Dubbel from Canada with flavors of bread, caramel with strong Belgian yeast and spices. Dry and yeasty.
    versus
    2) Unibroue Trois Pistoles (9.0%): A Strong Belgian Dark Ale from Canada with flavors of rich bread and caramel with sweet dark raisin, fig, and plum. Yeasty, but dark and sweet. (Correctly matched the two blind)

    Winner:
    2) Trois Pistoles:     Comes down to preference here and my first try and both of these. Maudite was good and sort of reminded me of a mix between a Tripel and a Weizenbock. I do like dry beers, but this one was almost too yeasty and dry. Trois Pistoles was similar but had some dark fruit sweetness for balance. Two fantastic and highly rated Belgian Ales that I will be savoring waiting for the snow to roll in.

    Man, I wish! I haven't smoked anything since early December, still trying to get over whatever this respiratory thing is. I feel a lot better but still having issues - I just got home from a doctor's appointment. He prescribed an antibiotic for me and had me go do a blood test. He's a good doctor so I feel like I'm in good hands to get to the bottom of this. Cheers!

    Happy Birthday BA Brother and many more! Great question, maybe better answered as a separate thread? I hit 60 next month and i hope my liver continues to function properly and enable continued consumption of high-gravity beers at 75!

    Speaking of high-gravity beers, todays choice is an imperial brown ale that is brewed with toasted croissants, and cocoa nibs soaked in whiskey barrels, and then finally aged in pinot noir barrels. This is very nice, thanks @BMBCLT ![​IMG]
