Having this English Trappist - it's pretty nice on a laid back Sunday after noon. I was going to post my tune La Conversacion - but I was pleasantly surprised to see that @ATL6245 beat me to it :sunglasses: - thanks brother, glad you liked it. :+1::beers: It's definitely a bossa-nova feel, I've always loved the style.

This is an interesting beer. I only picked up the Irish whiskey profile in the aroma while the taste was nearly all esters and delicate sweetness. While the smell and taste don't necessarily match up, together, they create a very nice overall beer experience.

More Coltrane you say...well yeah I can do that. Blue Train the Complete Master Takes. While this is rightfully considered Coltrane's first real masterpiece, this album wouldn't be what it was without Curtis Fuller or Lee Morgan. Let alone the rest of the band.

Only a few Riggs Schwarzbier's left that I brought back with me from Champaign, IL. Excellent as always, and might as well drink these with Coltrane spinning

Köstritzer Schwarzbier (4.6%): A German Schwarzbier with flavors of dark Munich malt, toasted grains, light cocoa. Dry and clean.
    versus
BlackStack Required Reading (5.0%): A Schwarzbier from Minnesota with flavors grains, yeast, light pine. Yeasty.
    versus
Bahaus/Hammerheart Schwarzbear (5.4%): A smoked Schwarzbier from Minnesota with dark flavors of toasted and roasted dark malt with a lingering smokey, meaty flavor. (Correctly matched all three blind)

    Winner/Rankings
    1) Köstritzer Schwarzbier
: German Schwarzbier with authentic German malt flavors. Hard to beat.
    2) Bahaus/Hammerheart Schwarzbear: A smoked Schwarzbier. The smokiness adds a nice flavor to an already dark and roasty beer. Nicely done here and worth picking up.
    3) BlackStack Required Reading: The worst of the bunch. yeasty, overflowed the glass, may have been spoiled. Minimal flavors. I'll probably stick to their IPAs and they should too.

That tune was just what the doctor ordered on this gray, overcast chilly Sunday here in N. GA. That's a nice looking Trappist too. Only reason I know anything about was I someone in England review it on Youtube. Great choice! Cheers!

Lee Morgan, now there is an under appreciated jazz musician. Another great one who died way too early.

My thoughts as well - nice tune for this type of day - it's a bit gloomy here as well. Fairly warm though for this time of year - last I checked it was 51 degrees. The Trappist has a best by date of 26/07/24 - it's not as good as the all time greats but it's right up there. I've nothing negative to say about it. I would definitely buy it again.

And died in a way to awful way. His essentially common-law wife (don't think they were officially married) shot him outside a club. There is a great documentary about him and goes into that. I saw it on Netflix a while back, but I cancelled that recently and don't know if its still on there. Very much worth tracking down.

    I Called Him Morgan.
