Happy birthday young man!

 

1) Hop Butcher Scrap Metal (7.5% canned 10/31/22): A NEIPA from Chicago with Eukanot, Citra & El Dorado for flavors of bright tropical, zested lime citrus, herbal flower, cannabis. Lightly bitter.
versus
2) Phase 3 Bold (8.0% canned 10/13/22): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra & Talus for flavors of tropical pineapple, juicy mango, honeydew and cantaloupe melon. Lightly floral. Juicy and sweet. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Winner:
2) Phase 3 Bold: Hop Butcher usually gets the win. Scrap Metal has great reviews, but didn't impress me quite as much with the dank herbal bitterness. It's good, just not usual Hop Butcher good.
Phase 3 Bold does the Talus nicely to give it a balance of floral to an incredibly juicy NEIPA. Phase 3 always delivers and is at the top of the Chicago NEIPA list

 

The deep freeze in Memphis has me home early from work so beer and soccer it is before I make a turkey squash soup for tonight. Cheers!

Does that mean today is your birthday or your birthday is sometime this month (which I'm assuming is the case)?

 

1) Sierra Nevada Narwhal (10.2% canned 9/2022): A Russian Imperial Stout from California with flavors of dark chocolate, rich and roasted pine with espresso roast. Piney.
versus
2) Stone Imperial Stout (10.6% canned 10/2022): A Russian Imperial Stout from California with flavors of dark chocolate, dark fruit, bitter espresso roast. Yeasty and leans dry and clean. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Winner:
Stone Imperial Stout: The Great California RIS battle and been waiting a while to do these two. Narwhal goes full Sierra Nevada with a strong soapy pine flavor. Not unlike SNAPPY, Celebration, Torpedo with the classic SN pine flavor. Just a whiff of this and you know it's from Sierra Nevada. This one probably settles down a bit with age.
The winner is Stone though. this RIS has all the right flavors yet still hits that clean and dry bitterness. Usually RIS are too sweet, but this one and Old Raspy are the only two I've had that can hide the booze and sweetness and drink surprisingly dry. Incredibly and dangerously drinkable.

 

Golf was cloudy and cool, with some wind. Still fun, though.

Waiting for the United breakthrough vs Forest

 

Picked this up at the Mills River Gift Shop last week, bottle packaged 1-3-23. Have not had a Torpedo for a few minutes, this is tasting good as i am catching orange, grapefruit, and peach. Finishes with a nice little rind bitterness, nicely done!

I was back up at Mills River shopping again today so in an SNBC kind of mood. Enjoying a 2022 Bigfoot. This beer knows what my palate likes
