And so another from the GI variety pk: Goose Island Hazy Beer Hug Hazy IPA. Temps are to warm up a smidge here this wknd so that's nice. Keep on tippin' away folks...Cheers!

 

TGIF BA's! Can you believe the local weatherman is predicting snow in N. GA this weekend?!? It was almost 70°F here yesterday. Mother nature is so cruel. Anyway, for you DIPA lovers out there, this is a very popular seasonal DIPA from Creature Comforts in Athens, GA - Duende checking in at 8% ABV. A well selection hops trio of Citra, Mosaic & Simcoe give the expected citrus, tropical fruit and pine notes with a little earthiness too. No hop burn. Can't hardly tell it's 8%. Has just enough bitterness to offset sweetness. Very well crafted beer.

Man, I wish I could get that one here in Georgia. I see the Post Shift Pils some and used to see the Czech pilsner, but don't see it anymore.

A few weekends ago my son and I had the privilege of the head brewer at Good Word Brewing give us a tour and sampling some beers. One of them was still lagering - a smoked helles. This is a collab with Fox Farm Brewery. They just canned it and I picked some up today. A Noble Fire 5.3% ABV Smoked Helles style. This turned out terrific. I've has Schlenkerla Marzen and Urbock, which are iconic but like drinking a fireplace. This is perfectly my speed. The smoked aroma and flavor are notable but not overwhelming. Good Word and Fox Farm hit this out of the park.

Sitting in the sun watching the kids sled on the side hill drinking Heady out of the can. Life is good. Extra special cheers and many thanks to @Braunmeister_1943 for blessing me with this and several other world class beers. Only second time ever drinking this perfect IPA, and it so lives up to the #1 Ranking! Ready or not, here comes the weekend. Happy Friday, BAs!
