2016 Surly Darkness - drinking an old bottle of Darkness on the Friday before the Super Bowl was good luck last time the Eagles were in it, so I figured I'd stick with tradition. Go Birds!

TGIF, BAs. Tonight I’m celebrating an old comrade who passed yesterday: Jen Angel of Fucktooth, MRR, Punk Planet and Clamor fame — plus the Legion of Doom, Allied Media Conference, Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair, a small bakery and more. A badass who lived a full life and touched thousands of more lives for the better.

1) BlackStack Full Disclosure (8.3% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, Idaho 7, HBC 630, and Strata for flavors of grapefruit citrus, ripe orange, juicy and tropical pineapple.
versus
2) Elm Creek Blind Ambition (8.5% canned 12/12/22): A NEIPA from Minneosta with Rakau, Eldorado for flavors of apricot, pear, pineapple and plum lead into flavors of mango, stone fruits, and juicy pineapple. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) BlackStack Full Disclosure: Elm Creek is a smaller brewery in Minnesota that has been making some good NEIPAs. This one is just average. Good if you like heavy and sweet ones, but too much for me and not enough flavor and body nuance. I previously had Full Disclosure from BlackStack and wasn't impressed. It has some good Idaho 7 and Strata flavors actually and a lot more flavor than its contender. Color me surprised, it's pretty good Idaho 7 and Strata from BlackStack here on my second try.

Just sitting down to my first post work libation! Enjoying a fabulous midwestern offering from Founders, “Dirty Bastard “ Scotch Ale! As the weather goes for SEPA, you could not ask for better for mid-February! 60 degrees and sunny is a dream come true for a middle aged UPS driver!

 

I used to LOVE Racer 5! Wish I could still find it around here...I guess I must have been the only one buying it...

 

Haven't had this in a while. !.5 months old, a little disappointing.

Not certain how to describe the taste of this after aging for a year. The hoppiness has faded significantly from last year. Still faint hoppiness on the backend
