1) Murphy's Irish Stout (4.0%): An Irish Dry Stout with flavors of dark grains, black malt, smooth milk chocolate. Dry and creamy
versus
2) Guinness Draught (4.4%): An Irish Dry Stout with flavors of dark grains, bread, hints of cocoa. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Murphy's Irish Stout: Kicking off March Madness Basketball with a battle of Irish Dry Stouts. Guinness has always been good. First time trying Murphy's and it was impressive. More chocolate flavor and a creamier body. The winner seemed clear. For an Irish Dry Stout Murphy's seems to be the way to go.

Dreadmill here today as well. Toying with the idea of joining the USATF "Mountain Goats" and running the circuit (complete 7 of 10 mountain-running events) this year to bypass the MWRR lottery for the 2024 race.

But first... er...priorities haha! Had to pop down to Defiant Records & Craft Beer, where they have several items of interest to me on tap today.



Starting off with one that's been an ISO of mine for the past couple of years brewed by Modestman. They apparently have canned it in the past but I never saw it, perhaps was only sold out of the brewery location.

We had to break out some wild ales before the non-sour beer only crowd arrives in a few hours. First time for me, damn delicious, more funk than I thought which is welcome. Slainte to you march madness and/or st Patrick’s celebrators, or just Thursday beer drinkers, to your health!

It's not bad, but not their best offering.
Has that malt liquor taste, which is expected.
It's good, but glad I only got one and not a case.

I watched that when it first came out, very entertaining movie!

 

I can’t speak for others, but I wake up at 4:00am, so drinking it around 10:00am is not too early for me, besides with coffee and chocolate, if I drink them after noon time I generally cannot sleep… Cheers!
