What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3814

I have a picture I took of my wife holding the Hulk statue’s hand from the when we were there a few years ago. I can’t post it because… well, I’ll be dead.

 

Up until the tournament I'd never seen of heard of this beer, but it's time to try it, so I am......Good? Yeah, very good actually, much better than I had anticipated......

A bit off of the beaten path, but intriguing enough to go for it - Pure Project, San Diego CA, “#ISO” a TIPA brewed with Dragonfruit…having spent 6 weeks last summer in Hawaii eating, inter alia, Dragonfruit frequently, I have to give this TIPA a go:



Canned 1/4/23. Hopped with Mosaic and Citra. Pink (!)Clear body with ok clarity but with lots of tiny particles floating about; excellent cap retention; bands of sticky lacing; solid heavy ring. Dragonfruit nose - nailed it!. Entry is dragonfruit followed by mild bitter hops and tropical fruit - passionfruit, then citrus - lemon peel bitterness. Medium body; medium carbonation; just a touch of warmth in mouth from 10.3% abv. Overall, an odd bird ipa wise to judge…it’s kinda like a fruited ale but with a strong alcohol headwind and enough bitterness to keep me engaged; Mosaic not a distraction; in the end, a melange of tropical fruit punch flavors, more Hawaii local than not, and I really like the beer not withstanding the unconventional pink fruity color; and at 10.3 % a dangerously easy drinking beer that will sit you right down.

The Brewing Projekt No Brainer (8.7% no canning date): An Imperial NEIPA from Wisconsin with Citra and Idaho 7 for flavors of sweet pineapple, peach, and melon. Some bitter tangerine and pine off the end.

Haven't had many IPAs from this brewery as most of them seem to be sours. A nice duo of hops from Citra and Idaho 7. Still too sweet and heavy for me. I rarely go past 8.5% ABV with IPAs and every time I do I seem to regret it. This one poured beautifully though.

Kicking off the weekend with this Urban Chestnut Winter Black Lager that also claims to be a Porter. Ale or lager? Winter Black Common?!? There’s some weather heading our way. Hoping it misses us or fizzles out. Hoping our fellow BA’s in Arkansas & Iowa are safe.
