    Good afternoon BAs!

Another BA, I forgot who, asked me how Three Taverns Passion on Ponce POG compared to Scofflaw Basement POG IPA; I thought I would oblige. Three Taverns is much better. It has a much more pleasant aroma and flavor. It's has better balance of malt sweetness and bitterness. The Basement POG has strange aroma. I'll have to try it again some time to double check but, just my opinion, Three Taverns Passion on Ponce is demonstratively better. My 2 cents.

I've always liked this version done by Billie Holiday.

Agree. I don't drink it as much as I used to but it was the first craft beer I drank with my dad. Hate to see it not available to me.

Been slacking on posting today on my day off. I took a road trip to Goat Ridge Brewing in New London, MN, and had this:

Bitter Roots - Belgian IPA - 6.6% ABV
    Delicious!

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4
    On tap at the brewery.
Clear lighter amber pour. The head is white, and there's some lacing on the glass.
The nose is full on Belgian yeast. Lots of bubblegum, and is a bit funky. There's almost no hop aroma.
Flavor starts off with the Belgian yeast. Tons of bubblegum and there's a slight wild/funky flavor Here. In the middle the yeast fades, and a pleasing hop flavor kicks in. Slightly pine, with citrus notes. The hops continue, but the yeast kicks back in on the back with a combination of bubblegum and bitterness. Very interesting flavor profile.
    Decent body. Bitterness lingers.
    Delicious beer overall.

Home now and working on these.

We got our 3 mile beach walk in then a big ole storm blew in. The sea in angry with 2-3 foot whitecaps we're watching thru the glass.

Oh, I am . I made a post-work beer run and picked up some Jai Alai and a 12 pack of Stone IPA.

No hazy 4 packs - I get sick of hazies pretty quickly, although I don't consider Second Fiddle as a hazy. I still have some hazies in the fridge that I have to drink. Cheers!!

A thick, humid day. Feels like the classic derecho day from back east and we'll almost certainly get a visit from some dying storms tonight. Helping a local business polish off the last of their Ayinger Maibock. They're on their final keg of this and I'll be sad to see it go.

Busy day BAs…I had electrical work done in the house, and got quotes for a plumbing project and for adding insulation to the attic. First beer of the day - “Victory Dance” IPA by Singlespeed Brewing, Waterloo, IA:

Totally inoffensive and drinkable. Relaxing on the porch. Temps today never got out of the 70s, with low humidity. Lovely early summer day. Cheers y’all!

I always enjoyed it, but I haven't seen it around here in ages so my guess is that it doesn't move well in this area.

Fair State Crankin’ Foamers (4.5%): An American Lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale malts, bread malts with a light, fruity yeast off the end.

Fair State with another nice lager collabing with Modern Times out of San Diego. A Midwest American Lager favorite for many. Clean, crisp, and drinkable with some hints of fruity yeast. Not going to blow your mind with complexity, but does the job extremely well. People crave this one, but I still think I'd drink Summit Twin Pils over this most any day.

It funny you say that about Hazy's. As you've probably figured out, I drink a lot more lagers. But I enjoy a number of IPA's. Some Hazy IPA's are hard for me to drink. Maybe it's added lactose or something. The thing I've noticed is that the Hazy's have made me appreciate a well crafted "standard" or WC IPA more. I'll take a SweetWater IPA, Jai Alai or Tropicalia, for example, in a heartbeat. Jai Alai is great and it's very available here. I just tend to grab the Tropicalia to support my locals.

I wouldn't think so. Too many great choices up your way. Sometimes I wish I could buy everyone's beers I really enjoy, but either my bank account or liver would give out first. :joy:

Totally agree - I really like a well crafted brew that's not all murky and hazed out - I know that hazies don't all taste the same, but it sure seems that way to me. I don't like the juicy BS and whenever I see beers touting themselves as juicy it's pretty much an avoid for me. That's one of the reasons Treehouse beers don't appeal to me, they look like a morning glass of orange juice.

If I want juice I'll buy some Tropicana orange juice.:sunglasses:

Terrific, expertly crafted beer. I was thrilled to see it available this year here in Atlanta. Never saw any of it last couple of years.

No, I think you're on tack. I blind taste tested a bunch of hazy's last summer. The problem is they just kill the palate after about the third or fourth sample. It gets very challenging to distinguish differences.

Ugly ass looking beers too. :joy:
