    1) Junkyard Jolly Meal (7.0% canned 5/8/23): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Strata, Sabro for flavors of grapefruit, lemon, with light herbal and coconut notes. Clean and dry.
    versus
    2) Modist Green Greens (7.3%): A NEIPA from Minnesota with wheat, oats, Sabro, Galaxy and Cryo Simcoe for flavors of lime, green guava, pineapple and coconut. Tropical and green. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Modist Green Greens:
Sabro hop battle from Minnesota. Revisiting Jolly Meal which drinks very nicely. Nice Strata and Sabro flavors, but milder and clean. Modist is hit or miss with IPAs, but this was better than average. It's Sabro and Galaxy flavors with lime, guava, coconut that mix with the smooth oat malt body. Strata and Sabro are two hops that have unique flavors and I think can sometimes be off-putting if not done right. For whatever reason I've noticed that these flavors often seem better to me in more sweeter and higher ABV IPAs. Jolly Meal is a bit too clean and the flavors don't come across as pronounced. Modist made a nice showcase of the Sabro here.

Totally forgot about that song, thanks for trotting it out! Great beer!

i can remember going to several beer festivals at Peoria Stadium in Arizona back in the 2000's, which is the Spring Training home of the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres and having this brew for the first time. Andy Ingram, who was one of the owners before Anheuser Busch bought them out, describing their specialty brewing process for the variety of hops used - "Hop Knot features five American hop varieties woven into the brewing process at seven different intervals for bold hop flavor intertwined with crisp, clean bitterness". It was a revelation to my palate at that time!

Enjoying a fine Doppelbock from Edmund's Oast this afternoon and some Foo Fighters.
    Cheers!

It's currently 91 feels like 103 so the wife and I did a couple hundred yard swim and a water workout instead of running. Summerfest for the refreshment.

    1) BlackStack We’re Not Waiting (5.2%):
A Zwickel from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, yeast, grains. Clean.
    versus
    2) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A German lager from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a dry, smooth, pale malt finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Surly Hell Lager:
Another battle with BlackStack (my last, and the same can from earlier) with one of Surly's best. Both are extremely similar and I thought deserved a head-to-head. BlackStack's is very good. A bit of a grainy bite, but if refined could be even better. Surly Hell is an underrated lager in my opinion. This still drinks better than most even in the midst of the lager fad. Hard to find if not local, but "Surly" a timeless gem.
