    Good Afternoon Advocates!

Taking this quick intermission in T-Storms to snap a pic.

Starting off with a single-hop Nelson NEDIPA from Modestman.

    Throwback to the Future

    Cheers BAs!

Thank you I appreciate that. I'm about over it. I'm glad I can enjoy some beers again. Although I think I'll keep it low abv atm while I'm still recovering and with the TX heat. I'm not trying to push it to early.

Hmm, just poured another of this delectable Nelson delight I think @TheIPAHunter would certainly approve of. I'll need to make quick work of it.

I've been informed by my neighbor that his golf league was cancelled, so it appear that afternoon billiards and parlor games are in order.

We're about to get slammed with t-storm. Perfect weather for lazy fun.

    1) Venn Helles (5.1%): A German Helles Lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale Munich malts, bread yeast, cereal, and cream. Full, yet soft and dry.
    versus
    2) Utepils Helles (5.1%): A German Helles Lager from Minnesota with flavors of earthy pale Munich malts, honeyflower with a smooth finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Utepils Helles:
Twin City German Helles Battle. First try at a beer from Venn Brewing Co. A nice take on a German Helles. It's slightly lighter, yet yeasty, full, and soft. Excellent mouthfeel and drinkability. Utepils is an all-time favorite Helles of mine. Authentic Munich malt and honeyflower flavors. Utepils gets the win for seniority, although Venn was more than impressive and I think the winner could come down to personal preference.

Stopped by a brewery in Elkton, VA, before meeting my family for a little vacation. Started with a flight while there were only a few patrons, all of which are first time visitors to Elkton Brewing Company.

Right-to-left, as I am trying them: Swole Sweatier prickly pear and chipotle Gose has a lovely bite while still displaying some tart saltiness.

Hidden Chimneys is a smoked Helles that is a little light on the smoke and a tad heavy on the malt sweetness. Spent Grain is a patersbier that was weird at first, but it grew on me.

I misread the menu for Old Spotswood - it’s an English old ale, not a pub ale. I thought it was way too sweet until I recognized my mistake. It still runs a little sweet with sticky toffee and treacle, but tasty.

G'day BAs! Thanks @barneyrubble for 3903. My 25 mile bike ride is complete. Went to Stubb's Bay, snapped a couple pix and turned around. Smoky hazy day here, hot & windy. Kinda yucky. Hoping for rain later. Punching in at the VB with MKE Outboard Cream Ale. A gift from @GreenBayBA and it's just fine! Cheers!

    1) Equilibrium mc² (8.0% canned 2/28/23): A NEIPA from NY with flavors of sweet and tart mango skins, pineapple, and apricot.
    versus
    2) Equilibrium Ocean Vibes (8.0% canned 5/11/23): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Idaho 7, Galaxy, Sabro lactose for flavors of orange, green guava and melon, pineapple, with some peach and mango creamsicle. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Equilibrium mc²:
Guess I'm up again already for an EQ Haze Battle. Ocean Vibes is a newer one and has some great hops including Idaho 7 and Sabro. It's tasty and juicy, but they don't really stand out specifically. In fact, very similar and nearly indistinguishable from mc². Mostly a wild guess trying to get them blind. Slightly juicier and more flavorful since it's more fresh, but I think I prefer that tart mango skin flavor that I get with mc².

Ok, I really like spruce tips in IPAs, but never really had them in more of a hazy IPA base. Elkton Brewing is giving me a chance to try it out with Spruced Up Viking:

Not sure I like the fruitiness before the spruce tips come on. I thought the spruce was a bit too light, but it sneaks up. Still wish there was more classic “C” hops in the profile.

My favorite available year-round beer. My PBR drinking wife got me a new Pink Floyd hat.
