Yes, he died May 14th, a few weeks before the first event. They held a celebration of life for him before the main event this Sunday.

I'll have to check out your thread, sounds like a great idea.

 

Happy holiday to all. Been a busy week of anxiety and work stress and other stress, but good to relax even though I am still doing 40 this week lol. Finished clear and present danger by Tom clancy. Hanging out at my colleague house for a sleepover and we watched Avatar and loved it. Need to get the 3D version soon.

Very true. I was surprised by my nonenjoyment of them. But palates evolve and preferences change.

 

Continuing on from last night, more Ray Charles spinning. A really underrated album and I have always loved the cover...Country and Western meets Rhythm and Blues.

Only independently owned US breweries in the glass today. Starting with Odell IPA.

 

Kind of a gloomy day here - raining off and on or drizzling when it's not full out raining. I was hoping we'd get a t-storm but it looks like they're just going around me as usual.

I picked up a small beef brisket to smoke tomorrow. Rubbed it down and letting it sit overnight in the fridge for the spices to penetrate and soak in. Took a spin to Home Depot to pick up some butcher's paper to wrap it for the final couple of hours cooking. I haven't made a brisket in a long time so I'm hoping for the best - going to try using my Skoo smoking tube with some pellets for the smoke source.

Having a Jai Alai at the moment. This one was canned 5/8/23 and already the hops are dying off and missing in action, it seems much more malt forward than usual, but it will suffice.

Happy 4th of July ba. Killing some shelf turds. 4/24/23,

 

Not quite as early a start as yesterday. Today's Hungarian beer is Reketye's Brain Dance, a Berliner weisse that is brewed with a little bit of tarragon. It really gives you that woodruff syrup experience ... I kinda love it. Also pictured, for local flavor: Francis II Rákóczi on the 500 forint banknote.
