Anchor Aweigh! (July 28th - 30th)

Thanks @steveh & @FBarber . I'm hoping to find a few spots they may have (likely near or out of code) Anchor at several city stores, after whiffing on my usual suspects (The Beer Temple and Beer on the Wall Park Ridge). Will report back if I have success at Leo's Liquors, Garfields, Capone's, or other stores which may have product (hopefully refrigerated).

Also hoping I might be able to find on draft somewhere that weekend if I strike out with a package find.

OK, started to give some thought about next week, and will likely take a little adventure weather permitting and see what I can find on draft using this link and perhaps an untappd and or beer menus search for those bars which have updated lists.

Hoping the link is at least somewhat relevant / updated (deliveries past 1-3 months?). Time will tell. Hope this helps others looking to participate.

I'll have to sit this one out. I've never seen Anchor in my neck of the woods.

 

I probably shouldn't advertise this, but my brother just texted me a picture of a stack of Steam and mixed pack 12-packs at the Gurnee Binny's -- $15.

This sounds like a common theme -- like a run on the banks in 1929.

 

I am always a bit surprised that people do not seem to know that you can always ask a bottle shop owner / manager to order something from the distributor.....I do this a lot, and ordered 2 cases of Anchor Steam from a local shop I frequent often.....it you are a good customer, they should be happy to check your local Anchor distributors inventory online and bring in what you need, etc

 

It's not the same everywhere in the country, let alone at retailers across the country.

I remember asking retailers to order me certain beers many years ago and they were happy to do so, but lately I've often been told there is a minimum order.

There's also the question of how much Anchor a distributor might actually have these days. Many variables.

 

Saw the news about Anchor this week and went by two markets that usually have it cold. No inventory at either.

 

John, I have the same issue in my area (Philly suburbs) with zero Anchor available for sale.

Never said or implied it would be an option everywhere - but many folks do not seem to realize that this is an option at all.....to have your fav retailer contact the distributor etc....it is not a big deal to do so....

 

I’m not sure how accurate that is. I checked in my area and it listed a couple places that aren’t even bars anymore.

 

I wish that I could join in. I reckon 6 years too late.
