Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier (Lentbeer)



My first ever, a recent acquisition from a trip out of state as it's not sold here.

A long-time want, and it does not disappoint.

Of the 5 beers I've had from this brewer, this one comes real close to my fave - a 2012 bottle of the Dopplebock that I enjoyed on Easter Day this past Spring.

Another new / fall'ish brew - picked up today....

A nice pumpkin beer!

 

Collective Arts Origin of Darkness impy stout (Cloudwater icewine variant)... another TW clearance beer, still good but not as good as the dulce de leche variant)

 

No, I'm not drinking. I'm just 'comparing' A great excuse (when you need one) to have two of these heavy Belgian beers at the same time.
No verdict, these are both great. The Bernardus is tasting a bit fresh. Did not check the dates. In a blind test, in this case, I think I prefer the Westvleteren. Based on 'mouth feel' and depth of taste.
The Abt 12 costs around €/$ 2,10. The Westvleteren is somewhat under €/$ 5, but in limited supply (in official shops).

Yesterday i was thinking about getting a couple of bottles of pumpkin beer to add to the pie crust for some decadent pumpkin pie. Sound good? A flakey pumpkin beer pie crust??

 

Did I mention that I went to Tree House Sandwich last week? It was Contact-Free!

I ended up enjoying that one quite a bit yesterday. Solid APA in my opinion.

My first foray into a non-NEIPA style from TH, and it did not disappoint.

Done with work for the day and having a Delicious beer. Has some real torrential downpours this morning, and even a tornado warning for my area, something I've not seen before. Now the sun is shining and it's gotten pretty warm and humid.

 

First beer of the day - “Cold IPA” by Wayfinder Beer, Portland, OR:



Poured pale gold with excellent clarity; tight white head; excellent cap retention; solid ring; soapy lace. Mild almost imperceptible lemony nose. Bitter lemon peel; firm malt base. Light body; moderate minus carbonation; watery feel. Long bitter linger; crisp and clean; overall a one trick pony - just very bitter mild lemon taste.

I was in a tornado big time when i was about 8 yrs old. Back in the 1900's when everything was black & white, slow, made from industrial steel, everything weighed about 6000 lbs and there were simply less damn people. I was playing outside near the house, birds stopped chirping, the sky fell, trees bent over and my ears popped. My dad appears, scoops me cause the wind knocked me down, he could barely stand but we got to the basement safely. A couple miles away farms and folk with trailer homes were wiped out. It came outa nowhere but of course then we don't have the satellites n such like now Am i rambling??

 

Happy Tuesday ba. Would probably have preferred another batch of Summerfest but I’ll take it.

 

@Beer-Panda this is definitely a dream research project for me. So envious you have the access to do this research project! I also have deep fondness for Chimay Blue!

I believe I've created a unique one. Not sure how often these 2 beers go back-to-back:

1. Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier (Lentbeer)
2. Taj Mahal Premium Lager

Another thunderstorm booming across the Lakes Region, and it's dumping rain. Again.

I'm near the dot. Good day for beer.
