Šnyt pour of Pilsner Urquell from Šenk Na Parkánu in Pilsen.

I've had plenty of Pilsner Urquell in my time, all of which had been imported to the land down under. But this beer, poured this way, was possibly the best beer I've ever had. Absolutely. Bloody. Delicious.

    Cheers!

I have been in vacation mode all week, and thought we where doing NBW already ha. Well, I'm opening this anyway. Its my 40th birthday beer, and a good one.

Saison Victoria from Lost Forty Brewing. 6.3% ABV.

Smoking some pork butt in the background for my birthday. Family is coming in from all over later today

Pours with a bit of haze. A golden/yellow color with a dense white head that rises to over two fingers. Retention and lacing for days.
A big aroma that goes from floral, to musty basement like, and grassy herbal tea. A bit of fruity apple esters, and this is great.
Taste wise, like the nose, big flavors here. Though everything is so well balanced at the same time. Grassy, herbal hops that become lightly floral. Musty basement like "funk" and a wonderful fruity ester character. Apples, pears, with just enough tartness and a nice bitterness even. Again, this is great.
A medium body with effervescent carbonation. That is crisp, and beautifully dry. Which makes this all very moreish to drink. I can come back to this with ease.

A spot on example of an American version of a Saison. Plenty of yeast character to go around, with a decent amount of hops and everything is really well balanced. Well done.

Overall score is 4.33, bordering on an A+, which is very rare for me.

If I remember and can get around to it, maybe some more pictures of the smoked pork when done ha. Until then, see everyone around.

Got lucky and had my afternoon meeting canceled. Winding down early. Terrific English style Best Bitter from Good Word Brewing - I'm Confident You're Right. Has an initial fruity note the transitions to am earthy/grassy hops aroma. Nice change of pace on the hops front. I'm loving the 3.6% ABV. I've had this on cask at the brewery and it's outstanding.

Tomorrow is the official 1st day of autumn. Hate to see summer go, but fall is a great time of year.

A fair yet unimpressive Oktoberfest beer. Would be good with the mesquite-smoked baby back ribs I made earlier (we'll have them for supper later today)...
