    Good evening to all Advocates,
here the working day comes to an end and so here is a small homemade aperitif with wild boar salami with myrtle, semi-seasoned Sardinian pecorino and two slices of mountain ham.
And an excellent Kellerbier, made in Italy.
    Just now.

Radical Brewery (Lucca, ITA) - ANGELA KELLER - Keller Helles (4,7%)

33cl can (€5 from the pub fridge).
On the label: "Lot: 23015 - Best before the end of: JUNE 2024".
This brewery that has recently started to be found in my area was present, also with this beer, at the EurHop 2023 festival.
On the nose, pleasant notes of cereal and a very light herbaceous note.
When poured, it releases an abundant and soft foam, but it always acts as a cap to the beer without reducing to a simple veil.
Deep blonde color, with slightly copper-colored shades.
In the mouth, a light body accompanied by the right carbonation (something not always found in canned beers) which immediately conveys a sense of thirst-quenching freshness. The initial taste is characterized by cereals: above all the taste of durum wheat bread crust.
The finish is dry with a light herbaceous note that releases a light "noble" bitterness (i.e. from noble hops, like the Germans used in this one) which leaves ample space for baking notes on the palate.
Very balanced, tasty and fresh. A bitter note is missing...even if just for a moment.
It faithfully reflects the reference style and yet there is something that distinguishes it... to the question "could you believe it is a German keller?", with all humility I would probably answer yes.

    1) Millstream Oktoberfest (6.2%):
A Märzen from Iowa with flavors of sweet bready, toasted caramel, floral hops, and mildly sweet.
    versus
    2) Third Space Oktoberfest (6.0%): A Märzen from Wisconsin with flavors of rich bread, glazed caramel, toast, earth & woodsy qualities and leans dry. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Third Space Oktoberfest:
Oktoberfest Märzen battle. Two of the best Oktoberfests of the year going head to head. Revisiting Millstream which is excellent. Smooth and sweet caramel and bread. Dynamic flavors and ranked #25 Märzen on BeerAdvocate.
Third Space blew me away this year with their Oktoberfest. I think this is the best of the year. Amazing bread and caramel flavors with an earthy and toasted Munich flavor that seems to keep it dry and drinkable. Ranked #113 on BeerAdvocate, if they repeat this recipe could see this climbing the rankings. An amazing Märzen.

Lambic and or Gueuze normally aren’t my thing, but the one I’ve had from Drei Fonteinen turned out to be great.

How easy is it to find over in Virginia? Specific beer store?
