Where's the big fat blunt?

 

Maine Lunch (7.0% canned 7/25/23): An American IPA from Maine with Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe for flavors of grapefruit, orange and papaya with some underlying caramel and pine.

Only my second try on this one. Added in 2011. A classic and World-Class American IPA in every sense. It pours absolutely beautifully. The photo doesn't do it justice, but it is radiating brightness from the glass. Traditional hops and flavors. Before all the fuss. Before IPAs were all doubles and triples. Before the NEIPA craze. Before dry-hopping, fruit beers, and the likes thereof. Imagine trying this for the first time in 2011. A craft-beer that influenced the industry. For my birthday I wanted to go back to tradition. Ayinger Jahrhundert for my favorite German Lager. Toppling Goliath battle for my favorite brewery. This one for a World-Class traditional American IPA. With that lineup, life is good Beeradvocates.

Finally hitting up this last beer from Spain.


The aroma is all citrus, peaches and apricots. The taste is a little lighter and slightly bitter. Smooth finish, the oats create a soft mouthfeel, too. Lower abv at 5.5% creates a nice east drinking beer.

Good Sunday afternoon, BAs. It's a very nice early November afternoon but the shadows are already falling. I prefer to tilt a few outside but there will be fewer opportunities as the days get shorter and colder. Mutual Understanding is an excellent IPA from my friends at Untied Brewing Company. It's sort of a hybrid: it looks like New England but the bitter citrus gives it a West Coast vibe. I just reviewed it on the NBW thread. Cheers!

A second Heady. I could be in worse situations. First can was dated 7/27, second 9/25. Not a side-by-side but the only difference I'm picking up is a slightly more vibrant nose on the fresher. No discernable difference in taste. And as always with Heady, you know you're drinking Heady. Cheers!

 

Transient Artisan Ales Buckley Select #6. Big booze, dark roast coffee, subtle vanilla and maple. Very good but the barrel presence is on the heavy handed side for me. Hoped for more maple and vanilla. I'll just kick back and nurse this bad boy with the late NFL games. Cheers!
