Always bought a 80/20 split of oak birch cord every year. Used the birch bark for inside the house fire kindling.

I've never seen any raccoons in the 40 years I've lived here so I don't think it's raccoons. I do have a lot of deer in the yard occasionally, and there's a lot of coyotes around which is why i was thinking of those critters. I slept really good last night so I didn't hear a thing. Cheers!

They love grubs as do raccoons which is a good thing cause grubs will kill your turf.

Clear, dark brown (near black) pour, appears black and opaque in the glass; fairly thick, frothy head, long lasting, khaki colored. Nicely balanced aroma; cocoa; bitter, dark chocolate; spicy notes like cinnamon. The taste comes across flavorful and robust; rich milk chocolate; cinnamon-like spiciness; anise; a touch whiskey; dark roasted grains. Heavy body; dense and viscous; slippery; some boozy warmth.

Any beer using amburana wood is a must-try for me. I'm glad I took the time to read the adjuncts listed on the can. I have no idea what cypress is like for this beer, but the cacao and amburana wood certainly make their presence known. This beer is pure joy to sip. Rich and complex.

...a beautiful day overall...completed a nearly 17 mile beer calorie burner bicycle ride around noon time...

We do have skunks, but usually I can smell when they've been around - didn't smell anything.

Amazing beer. One more after this one.
Not only is the aroma amazing but the balance is incredible. They didn't give anything up in the malt dept. Has a nice honey malt taste and this one is not super sweet. Loads of juicy hops but has a unique drying in the finish. This is my top beer from Tilted Barn and one of the top NEIPAs period.
On the good news front the Local Distillery/Brewery Sons of Liberty are graciously giving 2 bucks from every beer poured at their taproom towards the employees at Finns the restaurant where I worked before the fire. Chair2 Light Lager and Chair2 Light IPA. Pretty damn cool and generous.

So what's going on with the restaurant, are they going to rebuild? Were they covered by insurance? Have they determined what caused the fire?

Sweepings from under my log splitter are plentiful but I'll actually split some. When splitting dry wood, there are some logs that one could make shingles out of. Every log is different. (sounds like a Monty Python skit!) I know a place where there's a lot of dead/dying oak. VERY difficult to access. Dangerous. But... silver maple is also bountiful as is ash. EAB has destroyed ash in North America. We have 6 ash that we chemically treat every 2 yrs. I don't wanna import bugs. We'll see...

Yeah I'm not a turf guy anymore. I have 1.5 acres and I don't spend money on fertilizer or seed. I just let shit grow. Grass usually looks good enough for me - crabgrass weeds and all:rolling_eyes:

I lost my beautiful 100 yr old ash to EAB. They have virtually wiped out that tree in this area. I still have a smaller one that hasn't been affected. Have to have that beauty cut down very soon.

Lost 2 50 year old ash trees in my yard to the EAB. That wood is the best to burn IMO but alas no more .

Maybe the coyotes had a soccer game? Co-worker wondered why her dog's soccer ball was ending up all over - in this field, in that field, down the hill, across the road . Worried about a stalker, or other weirdness, she set up a couple of trail cams. It was the coyotes playing , sometimes for 30 min or more. Guessing the torn up part of your lawn is skunk(s), with the canine droppings incidental. Skunks are out & about now . Breeding season started ~2 weeks ago.
