Nice work! That one is the "original" independent pale ale in Oz, once upon a time pretty much the lone pale ale in a sea of lagers. It's still family-owned and proudly bottle-fermented, as you can see by the sediment in your glass. There's always been an argument for and against rolling the bottle before pouring. Being a homebrewer and reflexively avoiding sediment, I was firmly in the don't roll camp, but I think Coppers themselves recommend rolling.

    Cheers!

Good stuff! I enjoyed the beer. Nice taste and I honestly had no expectations so I can say that it's easy to like for sure. I too considered doing the super long slow pour to keep the sedi in the bottle but the instructions on the label say otherwise. It would have been easily achieved due to the bottle being upright, undisturbed, and chilled for a week plus. Was light and enjoyable. Also simple and "natural tasting" for lack of a better term. I'm curious about their Sparkling Ale.

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot 2024 (9.6% bottled 11/2023): A Barleywine from California with flavors of dark fruit, licorice, cherry, treacle, and caramel.

First go at this year's Bigfoot. My view on these is get this fresh while it's still hoppy. Tons of hop aromas still of citrus, tangerine, and the classic Sierra Nevada pine resin and soapy notes. More malts emerge on the flavor with the caramel and other notes. Still enough hoppiness to clean the palate. Not a fan of imperial IPAs, so this is a style I love and hate. They pack enough hoppiness into it to make it enjoyable.

@DoctorZombies Nice event. Phase Three makes some great beer and has been getting even better. I'd say their head brewer knows what is right. Sounds like a cool meeting.

Having a Sip of Sunshine while I wait on dinner to cook. Making a Mango Chutney/Curry roast chicken and it smells fantastic!! Now I'm basically starving, but it will be ready around 5 pm. I prefer to slow roast my birds, they always come out juicy and tasty that way.

Color is a shade of gold but a lighter shade with a diminishing white cap.

Aroma is not very strong, I get some grain along with floral/citrus hops.

Taste like a high end AAL, which, considering wheat and corn are in the mix, is not surprising. It's a good flavor for the type but still not quite so flavorful as, say, Yuengling Traditional. That sounds disparaging I know but I came to those conclusions before looking up the brew on their website and finding the grain bill does include corn. It sorta reminds me of Schlitz back in the 60s.

Medium texture, it does have some body to it, and balancing carbonation.
Overall it's a clean, quality brew that should be suitable for hot weather activities where beer is appropriate. Which for me is just about all of them.

It's 9 months past its best by date. Chocolate comes on strong though as it sits open.

Coopers was the first Australian beer I ever had (in the early 80's), unfortunately it was really old and tasted like malt vinegar, I also didn't understand the concept of bottle conditioning till many years later. I haven't seen it since, so the only Aussie beer I drink is Foster's and that's brewed in Texas. Now my favorite U.S. beer is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (bottles only) and that is bottle conditioned, a concept that I fully understand now.

I'm guessing a beer coozy in MN March is unusual?
