Onto my first entry into the tasting thread, i am enjoying a Trip in the Woods Ovila Abbey Ale aged in Brandy Barrels with Mandarin Oranges & Cocoa; acquired at the Mills River Gift Shop last February. I have no clue how old this is but am happy to report this is drinking very well as noted below.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Nose has notes of dark fruit esters, baked dark bread, and a slight hint of citrus.

Taste is a large malt base which the yeast lends notes of dried plums and currants. Getting notes of faint citrus in stride with a touch of baked pumpernickel and molasses. Finishes nicely balanced with some barrel heat that warms with each sip.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with each sip silky smooth and satisfying.

Overall the blending of this is remarkably done well as there are a lot of flavor layers going on with a balance that is near perfect.
