What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4161

Not sure why, but the 2017 version of this, as it warms up is very soft and is very chocolate milk like flavor. Bourbon is rather weak compared to the 2015 and 2016 versions.

 

TY ,always been reluctant to try to do this as i would ruin a lot of good meat and spending $$ to do so.

 

Wow!! Those look superb.

 

1) Elm Creek Virtual Skyline (7.0% canned 1/9/24): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Nelson, Nectaron, El Dorado for flavors of lemon citrus, zesty pineapple, bubblegum, resin and pine.
versus
2) Drekker Mass Shadow (7.0% canned) 2/4/24): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra and HBC 638 for flaovrs of tart pineapple, creamy strawberry, and over-ripe cantaloupe.(Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Elm Creek Virtual Skyline: NEIPA Battle. First is Elm Creek Virtual Skyline. Nice hop combo with teh Nelson and Nectaron. White grape but also some peach notes. Wasn't that impressed, but has grown on me.
Next is Drekker Mass Shadow. Has Citra plus HBC 638, which needs a name update. Has cantaloue and strawberry notes. I don't as much of that as I get tart pineapple. Pretty good, I'd say average for Drekker.
Elm Creek is growing on me and seems to be an emerging brewery that knows how to make IPAs in Minnesota.

Infinite Ale Works Into the Haze IPA. They celebrate their 10th birthday on 3/23. They should move to their new, much improved location in the next 2-3 months.

It's cheaper. You know exactly what you're getting and you can freeze it. The grinder investment is worth it if think you're going to use it - sausages take some practice but are so good. All that equipment has to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized- that's the biggest pain.

 

I cellared a few. They held on to about the 5 year mark in my unsolicited opinion. Tasty beverage.

WeldWerks coffee coconut stout. Viscous, good balance. The coconut comes across a bit soapy to me, which I guess is a fresh-ish raw taste. If that’s the case, I’ll have to be less critical of that Shadows of Mordor from the other night.

3 miles each way for some beer? That’s commitment. I put 2 x 5 minute walks on the elliptical tonight, and a few laps around the building earlier at work. I was glad. It’s a start to getting some of this fat off.
