Just finished watching the crazy end to the Wisky/Purdon't (yeah I spelled it correctly ha) game. Illinois/Nebraska coming up.

Game beer, Torpedo, in the glass.

And pupper sitting on my lap while I'm on the couch ha.

Corned beef still has a couple of hours to cook, will be back with some sandwiches and beers after the game :sunglasses:

Good news, birthdays, and hookups, it’s like a real bar

    I mean meetups. That’s what I said,right??

Got a little closer to West Virginia, and another winery / brewery, the original destination - Notaviva Vineyards (and brewery, meadery):

They have mixed flights (individually priced). The yearly wine thread is over in Beyond Beer*, so I’ll focus on the beer in this thread.

The Kölsch (left) is a little light, with a light herbal to grassy bitterness. The Czech Pils is fairly new, on a couple weeks according to our host, and is pretty tasty with a nice spice and dry grass finish.

    * A sub thread like the one this thread is in now - feel free to join us over there if you enjoy things… beyond beer. You can choose to follow the forum…

If you're really lucky, you'll find it on wood cask. They use old sherry and whiskey casks and the publican does not know what he's getting until it turns up. At least that was what I was told by the landlord.

Only ever had it from the wood a couple of times and both times it was from sherry barrels. Definitely makes a difference to the beer.

This is likely my first experience with munichwines. While the beer is actually a blend of a barrel aged barleywine and two barerel aged munichwines, I'm really intrigued to know more about the munichwine style in general. In the meantime, this barrel-aged blended barleywine/munichwine hybrid is simply a killer. There are layers of flavor and feel to this beer and the aroma is to die for. This is just one fantastic mammoth dark ale.

...calculating and filing tax returns ain't for the faint of heart...thank god for monster brews like this one (with a little help from an auxiliary vice)...

I have a wah pedal, but for the amount that I use it, I couldn't justify taking up space on the board. It was on my previous iteration. I'll give some thought to a psychedelic tune in the future :sunglasses::wink:

    Thanks and cheers my friend!!!

With only few rare exceptions in my 5 years there, I rarely saw any ale on wood casks unless it was at a Festival.
