I used a spoon and extremely slow poured the Guinness on top both times, but it hasn't worked.

St. Patrick's Day on a Sunday seems unfair. The other disappointment is that I couldn't find any Antwerpen, which is my favorite Guinness brew.

One of my hobbies in genealogy. I spent several hours today trying to ascertain what happened to my maternal G-G-G grandparents, Patrick and Mary Farley, who immigrated from Ireland around 1840 and settled in Shawangunk, Ulster County (ironically), New York. Based on census records I believe they died between 1855 and 1860, leaving several young children who were parceled out to neighbors. Their burial location is unknown. Their son Thomas Patrick Farley, my G-G Grandfather, served in Co. I, 124th New York Volunteers (the "Orange Blossoms") during the Civil War and was engaged in many battles, including Gettysburg and Grant's Overland Campaign. Thankfully for me, he survived the war, and returned to Newburgh, NY, where he married Bridget Furlong, whose family came from County Wexford. I'm proud of this branch of my family, as I am with my Dad's North Carolina Scots-Irish roots.

Should be swimming before too long. The pool water temp is up to 75 but we have 3 mornings coming up in the low 40's. Jai Alai while prepping slow cooked ribs for the grill.

 

In an attempt to fit in with the Irish spirit today I searched my basement and found a Scottish stout that's aged with IRISH whiskey oak chips. Then I Fd up and poured it in improper glassware for such. Sue me.

 

Nothing says Irish like the Cheesecake Factory ba. Sam Adams cold snap,

Seems like the right day for this beer. Some nitro goodness in this Guinness Draught Stout. Cheers!

Good guess, but no. You're all gonna be annoyed with me in a few hours when I give the reveal.

On the bright side, the Irish soda bread is out of the oven and the lentils are steeping in preparation for lentil soup.

Nice! I loved that place - one of the highlights from my 2017 trip to Seattle - Ravenna was really cute, small, personable - great folks. Hope it stayed that way!
