Have two new to me beers from Maine Brewing Company. This one was good, but seemed a little flat, and perhaps 9 weeks old, half unfrigerated at the store is pushing the beer's boundaries.

Full review in the New Beer Weekend #192 thread linked here. Plan on returning with a rare second home beer to celebrate a certain day.

Sadly the antithesis of a Hot Summer Night here in Chicago.

It is just a downright nasty day here in Central MA. Freezing rain, cold and raw - a good day for drinking beer. I already went out and did my few errands and picked up the goods to make some chili later on - this is the type of day that calls for a good bowl of red! On the plus side, at least it's raining and not snowing out :sunglasses: We're supposed to get 2-3 inches of rain here.

Having fun with a web site called Suno AI.

    https://www.suno.ai/

You can have it create songs for you and then play them back, it's pretty damn cool. I asked it to write me a song about a beer drinker named @vabeerguy and here's what it came up with. Interestingly, I never mentioned he was from Virginia :sunglasses:

    The Ballad of VAbeerguy

    [Verse]
Well, there's a man down in old Virginia
With a heart full of blues and a love for beer
He's the king of the taverns, the boss of the bars
Always catchin' good vibes, sippin' on his jars

    [Verse 2]
He walks into the joint, like he owns the place
His swagger and his style, he's got that grace
He knows all the brews, from IPA to stout
And when he takes a sip, you can hear him shout

    [Chorus]
Oh, VAbeerguy, won't you pour me a glass?
Let the golden liquid wash away my past
With every sip, I find a piece of my soul
In this never-ending search for that perfect brew, I'm on a roll

I asked it to write a song about drinking Orval since it's Orval day ..

Good evening from Frankfurt. I'll admit I'm a bit sluggish today after quite an amazing night of trying beers with friends. Looks like we ended up trying 19 beers :astonished:. It's always epic when Belgians, Germans, and Americans get together and drink beer!

Heading home in the morning, but enjoying a 2017 Orval that was given to me by a friend in Germany. Cellared properly. Notes over in the Orval thread. Cheers, and Happy Orval Day!

Happy Saturday, BAs. I’m back at Autodidact for Day #2 of the 1st anniversary weekend celebration, and tilting yet another collab: Alaska, a Czech Dark Lager brewed with Alternate Ending. Well done and a style that should be brewed more. Cheers from soggy North Jersey!

Light golden color with good white cap.

Aroma of sweet malt and spicy floral hops.

Good, crisp, clean taste of sweet malt well balanced with spicy/floral hops.

    Light texture with balancing carbonation.

Brewer calls this an "Italian-style Pilsner" and I franklh don't know what that is. What I do know is this beer tastes good in a clean crisp sort of way.
