New Oberpfaltz Hodenkobold Hazy IPA. They just tapped this as I was sitting at the bar. The first hazy they’ve made as far as I know. They held out for 10 years. Even the bartender was a little disappointed that they gave in
Luckily it’s a good first try and definitely not your typical sweet, devoid of bitterness version. It’s bright, spritzy, dry, and finishes with a solid bitterness. Willing to bet there’s Citra in this one. Full of juicy clementine, orange peel, ruby red grapefruit flesh and peel, lime, some lychee, and pine. Highly enjoyable.

My wife taught in public schools (mostly grade 6) for 31 years. Although not exactly the same, I remember her bitching about the SOL (Standards of Learning) test and how teachers started to focus their teaching to passing the test. Not sure if her gripe was legit but it does bring back fond (not) memories.

Change of subject. Oysters and cod for chow tonight!

A good cod meal sounds great! Unfortunately all the cod I get out here is frozen and generally rubbery. I still eat it a few times a month but it's just not the same.

Right along here ba. Imperial sunshine, blonde ale w/ orange, blue point. This stuff is crazy at 9.6%. Very orange forward and I get a lot of grapefruit. Drinks heavy with some burn in the finish,

Hop Butcher Sliders APA (Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson). Passionfruit, white grape skin, yellow grapefruit flesh and peel, underripe pineapple, blueberry skin, grass, funky herbaceous dankness, pine. Their pale ales never disappoint. Dry, drinkable, and refreshing.

    1) Einstok Olgerd Icelandic Toasted Porter (6.0%): A Baltic Porter from Iceland with flavors of coffee. Toasted and clean.
    versus
    2) Steel Toe Dissent Dark Ale (7.0%): A Foreign Stout from Minnesota with flavors of dark and bittersweet chocolate. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Steel Toe Dissent Dark Ale:

First is Einstok Icelandic Toasted Porter. This one is traditional and a fantastic Baltic Porter. Dark, toasty, balanced, and dry. It seemed off today though.
Next is Steel Toe Dissent, listed as a Foreign Stout. It's dark, bittersweet, and roasty. Tons of flavor and complexity. Hits all three attributes of being dark, bittersweet, and roasty. Very enjoyable and worth picking up.

Oh, I know. You always have some top shelf stuff. Love the fact you do the old school stuff as well though. I've been finding myself going more and more back to clear IPA myself. Just scratches that itch.
