What beer are you drinking now? #4192

Happy Friday! Thanks to @Roguer and NBS BIF #18, I'm drinking King Julius for the first time.

 

Good heavens I'm glad it's the end of the day Friday. Heavy work week. Looking forward to a beer.

My local bottle shop beer manager did us right this week. Nabbed some Bierstadt brews and gave me an early heads up! I've always wanted to try their beers. Not disappointed. This is a world class Helles right here! What strikes me most is how the soft mouthfeel gives the impression of sweetness but it drinks and finishes right dry. I paid way too much for this but it was worth it. Prost Advocates!

First sip that malt hit in all the right ways. Maybe because it's the perfect temp cool but not chilled. Maybe because it's been a year since we last met. Oh my!

Crap! That's a lot of damage for a beaver - right? My son hit a bear cub last year in his patrol car and it didn't do that much damage. Wow.

Another world class beer from Bierstadt. The Slow Pour Pils. This is just fun and enjoyable to drink. I shouldn't be this excited about a beer, right? Prost all!

 

Two Hearted IPA Best by 07-Jul-2024

 

1) Fair State Köld (4.7%): A Kölsch-style ale from Minnesota with flavors of vinous, citrus, and orchard-fruit yeast flavors atop a pale malt body.
versus
2) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Fair State Kolsch vs German Pils Battle. First is their Kolsch. Rightly yeasty, lightly vinous, smooth. Smooth and complex. Next is their Pilsner. Another favorite. Not real sure how to call a winner here other than Fair State. Both are excellent representations of the style. They don't seem to make lagers any other way than excellence.

 

Well, I took the bumper off myself after the damage. The beaver didn't do that. However, it did rip off my splash shield, broke some shutters, and also put a dent in my A/C condenser, so no more A/C for now.
