Love this beer, amazed at how much the price has come down over the years.

    First go at Yards.

    Yards Brawler

    Brewery Notes:
$6 20 oz nonic glass draft pour, 4.2% ABV. Smooth & crisp English mild.

Appearance: Ruby bronze clear base, light steady carbonation, creamy egg white head lingers a bit before leaving a razor thin cover over the base, thin soapy lacing. 4.25

    Aroma:
Caramel malt, toffee, light but nice. 3.5

    Taste:
Consistent with aroma but stronger, caramel malt, bakers chocolate, light toffee, light unsweetened lemon ice tea and pine vibes. Solid. 4.0

    Mouthfeel:
Light easy, persistent light carbonation adds a bit of depth to this watery body, lift to mildly dry, hop bitterness balancing nicely with the sweeter malt flavors. Caramel pine finish. 4.25

    Overall:
More hoppy than the typical English Mild, nice bold flavors for the style and a solid start for me at this new to me brewery. 4.25

Been to Philly a bit, by far my most hit East Coast city by choice (excludes work trips). Who knew they brewed beer here? Certainly not me before I got into craft just short of a decade before.

    1) Weihenstephaner Original Premium (5.1%):
A German Helles with flavors of pale malts, German bread malts, earthy and yeasty finish.
    versus
    2) Klosterbrauerei Andechs Vollbier Hell (4.8%): A German Helles with flavors of pale malts, earthy, grassy, German malts, and smooth honey. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Andechs Hell:
German Helles Beer Battle. First is Weihenstephaner, ranked at #11. Standard and one of the best. Next is Ancechs, ranked #25, which is very similar. These are nearly identical. Weihenstephaner has somre more yeasty notes. Andechs has more smooth and earthy German bread malts. I've done this battle many times and overall I think that Andechs usually comes out as the winner here. It has a more smooth earthy German flavor profile. One of the best out there.

Second pour here, another year round standard.

    Yards Philly Standard

Brewery notes: $6 20 oz draft. Crisp & easy tailgate beer, 4.5% ABV.

Appearance: Light straw golden clear nonic glass draft pour, steady mild carbonation throughout. Bright white creamy lacing leaves full cover over the base. 4.0

    Aroma:
Light mild cracker, hard to get that much. OK 3.0

    Taste:
Flavor consistent in both strength and substance. Very light cracker and nothing further after a few attempts. Neutral bland flavored 3.0

    Mouthfeel:
Light easy drinking, taste flavor neutral, sweet cracker finish. 3.25

    Overall:
Beer for conversion, but would prefer a Budweiser for more flavor. 3.0

Happy hour light wing order in, will pair this with that and might close with IPA.

    1) Hop Butcher Kielbasa King (7.5% canned 12/27/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic and Nelson for flavors of white citrus, grape, overripe berry, melon.
    versus
    2) Humble Forager Elevated Perspective V8 (8.0% no canning date):
A NEIPA from Minneosta with flavors of orange, tangerine, grape, peacharine, and bitter pine. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Hop Butcher Kielbasa King:
Nelson NEIPA Battle. First is Humble Forager. A great and smaller brewery out of Minneosta. They make some great NEIPAs. Usually very smooth and malt forward. This one fits that bill. iI's their version 8 at this. they could make some new names. Pours dark. Heavy mouthfeel. Citra and Nelson here. I get a lot of tangerine, peacharine, with a bitter piney finish. It's not your usual NEIPA because its heaver, more malt forward and bitter than you'd expect. The Citra and Nelson sort of get lost in the heavier body and malt. I have to say it packs a ton of flavor and I actually enjoy the piney bitterness here. It's just different than most, which is often what I've noticed with Humble Forager IPAs. A great brewery with great IPAs if you can find them fresh.
Next is Hop Butcher Kielbasa King. Nelson and Mosaic. Great hop combo. I thought it would be an interesting Nelson battle, but this is way different. Juicy an it's a bit sweet. Still holding up well at four months. I don't know if its the lactose they put in it, but these guys age extremely well. That's good because this is one of my favorites from them.

I generally agree - nitrogen makes Guiness almost palatable. Of course, the later downwind vapor hazard can be deadly!:rofl::rofl:

To clarify, I effing _love_ Guinness Original carbonated bottles. Like, I could drink that endlessly.

I've just been burned and super disappointed by not noticing... until after I'd ordered them... many other stouts flowing on nitro draught for whatever stupid reason... way too many times.

Beer should never be nitrogenated per my opinion.

Moving on to my even happier place...
