Crosstown Brewing Siren Blonde Ale



Light gold color with small white cap.

Mild aroma of bready malt and slightly spicy hops.

Taste on entry is mild malt and somewhat firm, spicy hops. The hop level is listed at 28 IBU and it shows, clearly outreaching the malt. There is a bit of fruitiness by mid palate yet the whole remains dry.

Green Path by Burnt Mill. Citra, Mosaic and Enigma hopped WC. Nice drop.

First of the day, at Monk’s Cafe, my only planned stop before hitting the airport.

Russian River Pliny for President 2024



Monk’s Cafe Notes: $9.35 16 oz draft. A new campaign and a new recipe. For this year’s election Vinnie has created a Triple Dry-Hopped IPA, (the original in 2020 was a double dry-hopped version). Resinous with notes of stone fruit, citrus, and pine. 7% ABV.

Appearance: Golden tarnish clear base, heavily flowing carbonation. Creamy bubbling head, lingers awhile and loiters nicely over the base well into my enjoyment. 4.5

Aroma: Tropical, citrus, pine in that order. Pine comes out stronger a bit later. Digging this. 4.25

Taste: Consistent with the aroma, tropical flavors, tangerine, citrus, pine, grapefruit. All work well together. 4.25

Mouthfeel: Creamy medium plus body, drinks about the same as the ABV. Sweet but not too, pine bitterness provides a nice balance here. Faint carbonation more seen than felt. Tangerine pine dry finish. 4.5

Overall: Glad I was around for this draft pour. Well executed TDH IPA, everything in proper measure. While I’d still vote for Pliny the Elder in every election, this would be a nice presidential selection for the Caribbean or Fiji. Wish we could vote for beers in elections, perhaps some day. 4.5

Priming the motor with this remarkable NEDIPA from Modestman prior to a quick trip south with neighbor to help him fetch some newly purchased furniture.

In return, his wife is preparing a delicious porterhouse steak dinner for us, and there will likely be some form of gaming/billiards in our future this rainy evening!
