    1) Weihenstephaner Helles (4.8%): A German Helles introduced in 2020 for refined flavors of yeast, barley malts and a crisp and clean finish.
    versus
    2) Paulaner Muncher Hell (4.9%): An original German helles with flavors of earthy honey and German bread. A smooth finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Weihenstephaner Helles
: German Helles Battle. First is Weihenstephaner Helles, ranked #5 on Beer Advocate, which is impressive since it has only been brewed for less than five years. Earns the reputation with flavorful malts, but also remaining crisp and clean.
Up against Paulaner's Helles. Similar, but slightly more earthy and sweet malt profile. It's very good too, but doesn't have that crispness that Weihenstephaner has. Going with Weihenstephaner in this beer battle.

Starting today light. Looking back at yesterday's thread I see that @keithmurray was curious about what I paid for the Barrel Aged Old Rasputin. $16.99 + tax for a four pack.

Busy day BA's. Fixed the solar pool heater by bypassing a leaky panel, dental cleaning, trip to total wine then came home and mowed. On my ass with a Summerfest.

Good afternoon, BAs! Cutting down on day drinking, at least for a bit, so getting things started with a late afternoon sipper. Good excuse to start slowly drinking down the cellar, though: drop down the quantity, and up the quality.

    1) Hop Butcher Blazed Green Relish (8.0% canned 2/6/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Strata, and Sabro for flavors of fresh orange, green papaya, and zesty citrus.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher Presto Change-O (7.5% canned 2/7/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic and Simcoe for flavors of mixed berries, juicy pineapple, and sweet pine. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Hop Butcher Presto Change-O:
Hop Butcher IPA Battle. I've done this one before, but have a lot of these so revisiting this one. First is Blazed Green Relish. Citra, Strata, Sabro. Nice hop combination. Flavors are somewhat subdued, but the complexity is there.
Next is Presto Change-O. Lots of Mosaic and Simcoe here. The Simcoe gives it a resinous cantaloupe and pine type of flavor.
I like the brightness and drinkability of Blazed Green, but the tropical flavors of Presto Change-O. Hop Butcher does the sweet tropical flavors of Simcoe extremely well and this Presto Change-O is holding up nicely.

This beer is pure refreshment. Light and lime-like with a mild bitterness. Goes down fast. Scored well here on BA. Definitely getting more of this. My own personal stash at the local package store. Cheers!

This song always seemed to be the group sing at the end of a drunken night in at the local bar during my college days.
