I signed off last night before you asked about frozen oysters. Yes to both questions, I shuck them and kind of set the bigger ones aside for frying and smaller ones for stew, they thaw out really quickly. They produce quite a bit of brine so if I’m making oyster stew there is a lot of liquor for the base.

 

Hey Dave, you said last night the Hawthorn was changing hands, is it still going to be the same kind of place? I know you love it there.

At a local bar for a benefit for an ill friend of a friend. Drinking Rhinegeist Truth IPA...

1) Drekker Evil Natured Robots (8.0% canned 4/23/24): A NEIPA from North Dakota brewed with Mosaic & NZH 107 hops for flavors of orange citrus, green pineapple, guava, coconut, and lime, with mango and grape underneath.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Cosmic Archer (7.8% canned 3/20/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with Mosaic, Nelson, & Citra for flavors of orange citrus and pineapple zest, white grape, berries, and lychee. Zesty and clean. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Toppling Goliath Cosmic Archer: Happy Sunday BeerAdvocates. Drekker vs Toppling Goliath IPA Battle today. Both with a bit of Mosaic and New Zealand hops.
First is Drekker. It has Mosaic with a bit of NZH 107, which I reviewed yesterday. A bit of grape and mango flavors underneath the grapefruit citrus. This is one of the best Drekker IPAs I've had.
Next is Cosmic Archer. Very similar aromas. Slightly more grapefruit and citrus zest. Similar white grape flavors from the New Zealand hops.
These had nearly identical aromas. On the flavor Toppling Goliath had a little more zest and less sweet. Toppling Goliath a slight ede here, but I really couldn't tell them apart blind. Both are excellent and two of my favorites from each brewery. I'd vouch for either of these.

 

Still working on this beauty that @Whyteboar sent to me. It is a slow sipper for sure.

 

Spent the morning making sure my foundation is completely level and square. Tedious work but it’s done and next weekend time to start building upward.

Got some double bastard as my reward for the hard work

Over at my dad's for dinner. He turned the heat on in the pool for his grandkids. He would've made me and my sister swim in the 60 something degree water. Boys are loving it. Heady for me. Dads got a Second Fiddle. Cheers!

 

It's been a long time since I've had one of those. IIRC, those were available here in Green bottles, which resulted invariably in skunkiness.

 

My favorite soccer team just won the domestic championship in a very dramatic fashion. Time to bring out a Cantillon!
