    For the BA online Russian imperial stout tasting - May 24 - 27

    Pours a dark and opaque hue; immensely thick head, tan colored, dense and spongy, strings of clinging foam stretch down the glass. Extremely pleasant nose; roasted grain and baker's chocolate, a touch of zesty, earthy spiciness. Rich malt sweetness on the palate; bitter chocolate and cocoa; rye-like spiciness; grain char; slight booziness lingering beneath the sweetness. Heavy, stick mouthfeel; fine alcohol warmth undercurrent; lip-smacking stickiness.

    I love this Ohio-based brewery and their great take on big, dark beers. B.O.R.I.S. has been around for years. It is always a pleasure to revisit this beer. It seems to be making a fairly regular appearance now in Colorado Springs, so it's easier for me to snatch up a can every so often. A very nice beer for the long Memorial Day weekend and the online BA RIS tasting.

    #2, from HopLore Brewing Company in Leesburg IN, a new brewery to me. This is an RIS, but this variant is more of a pastry stout. It still drinks REALLY well. It is working well for me pre-Memorial Day, BA’s.

    Went into my "secret" local today, and the girl smiled and told me she had a surprise for me. She pushed aside a couple front rows of beers from the cooler and extracted two 4-packs of Heady from the back. Drinking the first can while smoking chickens on the Weber.
