Lazy morning BAs! Easing into my day with some coffee - Revolution’s Super Massive Cafe Deth (2024):



Canned 4/4/24. Poured at 58°. Roast coffee nose/taste. Bourbon. Bitter sweet dark chocolate. An amazing imperial BBA coffee stout! Working on tasting notes for NBW…check that out later for the skinny.

Blazing hot/sunny here, the courtyards/common areas nuthin’ but burnt brown dead grass. I think I’ll stay inside and drink beer…maybe clean out the kitchen fridge.

It is way to hot out to be in my courtyard this afternoon. It is also still kind of a wreck after the storms we have had over the last few weeks ugh. So, reading inside today.

Orval in the glass, one of my favorites as always.

Mario Vargas Llosa's, The War at the End of the World is a fantastic historical fiction on the War of Canudos conflict in 1890's Brazil.

 

Polishing off this 4-pack of Staropramen, I mean Bus Beer. Just not hitting the spot.

 

A Heart and Two Ears...a pale ale collaboration between Revolution and Piece Pizza & Brewery. Tastes like a standard Rev hoppy beer to me.

Picked up a mixed pack of Bell's Oberon Shandys. Not very impressed with this one, a bit too sweet and under carbonated for my taste. Not a drain pour but I won't look for this again. Maybe the others will be better (hopefully.)

 

1) Fair State Side Pull (4.1%): A Czech lager from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, floral hops, pale malts, with a crisp, citrusy finish.
versus
2) Fair State Strong Friend Moves (4.5% canned 1/2024): A German Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus hops, pale bread malt, a smooth yeast. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Fair State Side Pull: Happy Sunday BeerAdvocates. Time for a Fair State Beer Battle. One of my favorite breweries from The Twin Cities. First is Side Pull. A Czech Pale Lager which is a unique style of beer from a side pull tap. This one is hoppy, yet smooth and bready. This is an excellent represenation and growing on me.
Next is Strong Friend Moves, a German pilsner. I actually found this to have a moth sweet malt flavor than the Czech Lager. I completely mismatched these blind and had to double check to make sure I didn't mislabel them. I'm going to have to let them warm a bit to see if some other flavors or qualities evolve because these drink exactly backward how I expected. I'm a bit dumbfounded by the results. These blind taste tests are often humbling. Nevertheless, both are fantsatic beers from Fair State Co Op. Support this brewery if you can.

 

Elmhurst Brewing Celtic Crimson (Nitro)

 

My first dark beer from Maine Beer Company, Mean Old Tom, a Stout aged on Vanilla Beans. Purdy tasty. Entering hour three of smoke on the ribs…

 

On the balcony watering the plants, it’s 96° in the shade, drinking Voodoo Ranger Tropic Force DIPA:



My big ass fan is blasting away, but it’s just pushing hot air, kinda like an air fryer…Cheers y’all!
