    Happy Wednesday BAs! It has been stinking hot here for three or four days now, so I gave the garden a good, long watering... which made me thirsty, and here we are. Nothing beats a Weihenstephaner Hefe in this kind of weather. Cheers!

    Very hot today, supposed to hit 105.
    Sitting in air conditioned splendor, drinking a Bavarian IPA (or a hoppy helles as the bartender called it). Whatever, it hits the spot.

    1) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A German lager from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a dry yeasty and pale malt finish.
    versus
    2) Falling Knife Convivio (5.2%): An Italian Pils from Minnesota and collab with Maplewood in Chicago with flavors of lemongrass, lemon citrus, pale malts and yeast. Smooth.

    Winner:
    1) Surly Hell Lager:     Lager Battle from Minnesota. First is Surly Hell. Crisp, floral notes, with a soft and smooth yeast. Fantastic citrusflower flavors.
    Next is Falling Knife Convivo. A collab with Maplewood in Chicago. Nice lemon citrus flavors. Smooth, slightly sweet. Very nicely done as well.
    For me Surly Hell is one of the best German Lagers I've had. I'm not exactly sure what style it falls into, but the floral and grassy hop flavors come together perfectly to balance the smooth malts. I'm going to pick up more of these.
