Good afternoon, BAs! First BA Narwhal in quite some time.

Almost 2 1/2 years old, but still drinking wonderfully (I'm of the opinion that BA Narwhal doesn't really need any aging, as it's pretty smooth while fresh, but as much as I love OG Narwhal, I really love it with 2-3 years on it).

    Cheers!

Sigh, this is my last day of vacation. I ended up working for a couple of hours this morning to help out a customer so I plan on taking those two hours off tomorrow afternoon. Having a Foley Brothers Independence Day IPA on this hot and humid afternoon. This is pretty good!

    1) Barrel Theory Rain Drops (7.5% canned 5/6/24): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra and Mosaic for flavors of orange, OJ, stonefruit, pineapple, and berries.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher Unwind Your Mind (7.5% canned 4/8/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic, El Dorado, & Moteuka for flavors of tropical orange, berries, some grape and lychee. Tropical. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Hop Butcher Unwind Your Mind
Barrel Theory vs. Hop Butcher IPA Battle. First is Barrel Theory Rain Drops. First try at this one. Standard Citra and Mosaic, but rated World-Class on BeerAdvocate. Fantastic aromas. A bit milder on the flavors. Orange, OJ, stonefruit, pineapple, melon. Very light and cleaner than expected.
Next is Hop Butcher Unwind Your Mind. Interesting hop combo. Sweeter as expected with more tropical berries, melon, and grapes. More flavor overall here.
Barrel Theory making some great IPAs lately. Don't know that I'd give this World-Class, but will keep trying more from them.

Thought about hitting the Sox rain induced DH, but between getting a late start and goal to listen and do some more purging here, having lunch and this one paired with spaghetti.

    G'day all!

Got some 100°F temps coming up this week. I'm doing a practice run with some Killian's Irish Red Lager. Serviceable but I miss the old Killian's Irish Red Ale. I reckon it would have been a pretty good seller these days...

    Prost!

I see no reason not to have another one of these. Made a spicy 3 bean salad to have with my homemade meatball sub at dinner. Dinner will be an easy affair tonight.

Toulouse is a bit of a drive from Euskadi (Basque Country) but I’d recommend. The identity is strong over there and the culture and tradition also, great food and drinks, proud folks.

Had this on tap yesterday and it was a wonderful rendition of an as-advertised piney WCIPA that Three Notch’d and Deschutes put together - Totally Pine.

The can version… is also a lot of pine PNW hops in the fore. The malt is a little more grainy / husky and not as “clean” as the kegged version. Gonna drop my score slightly, but it’s still damn good.
