Never had this one before and the can kinda blew up on my upon opening.

A rather inauspicious start. I have 12x to decide if I like it.

New Galrus Raspberry Tart. Still delicious.

 

1) Fair State Side Pull (4.1%): A Czech Pale lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale bread malty, yeast, light salty notes. Light and clean.
versus
2) Off Color Tooth and Claw (5.0%): A Czech Pilsner from Chicago with flavors of pale malts, smooth bread malts and a vinous yeast. Mildly bitter. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Fair State Side Pull
Czech Lager Battle. First is Fair State Side Pull. A Czech Pale Lager. Light, clean, but drinks excellent.
Next is Off Color Tooth & Claw, a Czech Pils. More yeasty and hoppy, somewhat similar.
Both are excellent, but the simplicity of Fair State Side Pull makes it a great Czech Pale Lager and a style of beer I'd like to see more of.

 

Another pour, a bit better this time.

I did not purchase any Urquell today, so I'm gonna have to enjoy this.

1) Toppling Goliath Cosmic Archer (7.8% canned 3/20/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin & Citra for flavors of orange citrus and pineapple zest, white grape, berries, and lychee. Zesty and clean.

2) Mortalis Brewing Strange Philosophies 105 (8.0% canned 4/17/24): A NEIPA from NY with Citra and Moteuka for flavors of tropical and juicy pineapple, papaya, melon, and sweet lime and mango. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Toppling Goliath Cosmic Archer
Toppling Goliath vs Mortalis IPA Battle. First is Toppling Goliath Cosmic Archer. One of my all-time favorites from them. Mosaic, Nelson, Citra. Fantastic flavors from the Nelson and Mosaic. Still drinking excellent at 4 months.
Next is Mortalis Strange Philosophies. Very impressed by these guys. This has more juicy and tropical flavors. Lots of lime from the Moteuka. Excellent haze. Actually think Mortalis has more flavor here, but I've enjoyed Cosmic Archer too much to not give it the nod here. I'd rate both as World-Class.
