Nice! That would make a great ad for Miller.

Never tried that one before, but it sure looks pretty good. I live outside the Chicago area in the western suburbs and I can’t get that beer.

Another way to piss money away....local dive place has about 10 machines, always see somebody playin'em, never see or hear the bells and whistles. Spent a night in Lost Wages after a Nat'l Park tour last summer. Not my place, I'd rather piss my money away on beer than throw it away.

Same here. I only go to have a couple of cold Hamm's and visit with an old coworker that tends to the place twice a week.

    Danish Style Pilsner - Carlsberg

A good beer for a lazy afternoon out back. BTW, the caramel flavors start to shine as it warms. I enjoyed this for about an hour and it just got better with each sip.

This is the best light lager I have enjoyed for many years now. Fresh, crisp, bright grain with floral orange and light pine. Mild sweetness balanced with bitterness. Just a WOW beer.

Moonlight Brewing's Death & Taxes Black Lager. An outstanding example of this style. At 5.8% abv, it has a nice rich malty character.

    Radeberger Pilsner

Well, this one is ok, although it has a harsh edge and the finish is unfortunate. Still enjoyed it while grilling burgers.

Interesting, how fresh is your batch? Because I used to get a grainy harshness from Radeberger too, but I found some fresh 4-packs a few weeks ago and it didn't have that off character.

Unfortunately I didn’t note the can date, and it was part of a mixed 6-pack.

It wouldn’t surprise me to learn it had some age. Basically everything I have seen from overseas, the past few years, has been a bit long in the tooth. Some have been surprisingly no worse for the wear, others have been a tad tragic. The Carlsberg Pilsner, posted earlier and a Carlsberg Elephant (not posted) being examples that were pretty good.

Recently, Radeberger released True to Excellence Edition. It's easy to spot in the stores, and it is relatively fresh.

Interesting. Not the 4-pack I lucked on a few weeks ago, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Based on hearing about Aldersbacher for the first time -- and seeing it locally for $5 a 4-pack of .5 liter cans, I couldn't pass it up.

Unfortunately, this 4-pack has a BB date of September, but it seems to be falling off already; there's a very tart, near-to sour back palate flavor to this one. Just not as clean and malty as I'd expect in a Munich Helles.

That said, it has a great appearance, aroma, and mouthfeel -- so I'm hoping to see some fresher stock soon to compare.

Enjoyed a local Okto Märzen yesterday -- first local (I've wanted to try) spotted on shelves so far.

Leaning a little more on the caramel malt this year, but still well-made and highly quaffable. Get your ESB on.
