Happy long weekend to all you hard working Advocates!
@Shanex - thanks for sharing the @DoctorZombies pic, always cool to see the BA meetups!
@muchloveforhops3 - beautiful pics! It has been a long while since we've been to Montana and it looks as gorgeous when we experienced it early September all those years ago!
@ATL6245 - i see some pulled pork in your future. I am lazy and utilize my Traeger for the long 12 hour cooks - have fun!
Speaking of laziness, trying to catch-up with David with this gem, or perhaps i am more efficient in my imbibing?
Back on the Rush kick this afternoon. Thunderstorm passing thru dropping the temps to the mid-70's
    Cheers!

This collaboration is producing some awesome beers. Over S10,- for a single, but worth every penny. Somewhat hard to get here on the continent, but probably in the UK too.
    Cheers

Good afternoon, BAs! I had the day off, but I've been super, super busy regardless. For lunch, we finally went to the famous Sally's Apizza, where we each had a Two Roads beer brewed specifically for them:

    Sally's Apilz

Really tasty with no flaws, but it was a bit thicker than normal for the style, and lacked the complexity of great pilsners. But we both liked it quite a bit. The pizza was excellent, but I won't lie: we both unequivocally preferred Frank Pepe's. The char at Sally's is ashier and more bitter, and throughout the whole slice (not just the end crust), and the sauce is more bitter, bright, and tomato focused. For some people, either (or both) difference might be their preference, but not for us.

That said, we will be going back next spring, and trying out another style. At Frank's, we had a group, so we tried four different styles, including CT/New Haven style (no mozz), pepperoni and hot peppers, and white clam. At Sally's, we only tried the New Haven style without mozz, so while we can say that we definitely preferred Frank's take on that style, that doesn't mean for sure we would like a more traditional pie more or less. Maybe that brighter tomato sauce is a great complement once you've added some greasy mozz and some savory elements (pepperoni, please). So more research must be done ... you know, for science.

Right now, relaxing and getting ready to play some Skyrim with a Sip of Sunshine:

I think we're ordering local pizza for dinner, too, but this time it will be a classic pepperoni pie.

    Cheers!

[IMG] A near perfect Friday evening and I am sipping this new one from Toppling Goliath.

Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass canned on 8/12/24. Pours a very attractive hazy orange with a finger plus sticky white head that leaves thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma is tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, blueberry, and apricot very nice. 4.5

Taste follows tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, blueberry, and apricot perfectly balanced with nothing dominant. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above medium, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8.5% big balanced flavor but really easy going down. 4.75

Overall this is rather impressive. I would highly recommend it. Cheers all. 4.5

Decided to mix things up a little. Bought this tall boy Bitburger Pils at the local grocery today. Impressively balanced beer. I love the spicy/herbal hops and grainy aroma. Very refreshing. Impressive clarity. Even more impressive head. German beers always seem to have a nice thick head that lasts forever. Prost!

Onto round 2 and something on the lighter side along with some more Rush. The Goldfinches are pretty bossy, they will fly onto our chairs on the patio and look in if their food is not out back by 9:00 am. So far, they have not knocked.
    Cheers!
