Turned downright chilly over here today. Scarf and sweater, snotty nose.,. but it’s beautiful!

 

Kastanie, a bock by Old Nation and Urban Chestnut. Kinda syrup-y & not great.

 

Odell 90 Shilling on nitro at Old Chicago. Surprisingly delicious.

Good Wednesday BA's! Painted a bunch more in the garage today, now at Weiner Wednesday. It’s Weiner Wednesday! Come by and celebrate by having our Birria dog!!! This Weiner is super delicious and we have paired it with jalapeño cheddar shortbread so don’t miss out on this one!!! Paired with a King State Tropunk IPA "This IPA walks the line between east and west coast style IPAs. Juicy, tropical aroma with a dryer, balanced finish to keep it refreshing. Mosaic, Citra, Azacca and Nelson Sauvin hops showcase mango resin and baked pineapple, with a subtle malt backbone underneath."

 

1) Junkyard Oktoberfest (5.2%): A Festbier from Minnesota with flavors of sweet and earthy Munich bread malts with notes of honey.
Versus
2) Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest (6.0%): A Festbier from California with flavors of floral and piney hops, earthy German malts. Hoppy, malty and smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind).

Winner: Junkyard Oktoberfest
Festbier Battle. First is Junkyard. Smooth and sweet bread and cereal flavors. Very nice flavors here.
Next is Sierra Nevada. This might be the highest trending beer every year on BeerAdvocate. Probably been top of the trending since August. I usually have mixed reviews on this. Usually lots of soapy orange characteristic of Sierra Nevada. A bit more tame and authentic this year. I like this year's more than previous.
The malt profile of Junkyard seems more authentically German and bready. An excellent festbier.

 

We've been in Albuquerque visiting our son and his girlfriend. Now back home and doing my usual golf game. A nice day to be outdoors.
This a pretty nice "old school" IPA.

 

Back at it here ba. No luck on more 10 yr anniversary. Oh well, Green, ipa, th- to probably finish me off for the day as well.

Here's something different - a black and tan made from Celebration IPA and Guinness ...quite good actually!

 

Another fine beer from the Shiner "Home for the Holidays" mixed pack. Here's to a speedy recovery @Roguer . Curious how the "Black and Tan" worked with the Celebration @LarryV ?

 

Really well - there's no bleed thru from the Guinness to the Celebration - I was afraid they'd just blend together. I have enough to make another one later. But yeah, really a tasty blend happening - I'm loving it!

1) BlackStack Crowd Control (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Mosaic, Cashmere & Strata for flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, strawberry, green melon, and mango
versus
2) BlackStack Pack of Shooters (8.4% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, El Dorado, & Galaxy for flavors of orange, pineapple, passionfruit, grape, and mango skins. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Pack Of Shooters
BlackStack IPA Battle and second time I've done this one. First is Crowd Control. Nice combo of Mosaic, Cashmere and Strata. Complex hop flavors, but sort of falling off a bit and becoming sweet and showing the alcohol with age.
Next is Pack Of Shooters, a collab with Barrel Theory. Great orange, pineapple, passionfruit from the Galaxy. Complex yet robust flavors as usual from BlackStack. A great collab with Barrel Theory. Easy winner here. BlackStack is always making some killer IPAs.

 

That first black and tan went down really quick - it was delicious!! So another one to follow ...
